Wild Pigs

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange
students in the class. One day while the  class was in the lab the Prof
noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back
and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter.  The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back.  He had been shot while fighting
communists in his native  country who were trying to overthrow his
country's government and Install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange
question.

He asked, " Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young
man said this was no joke.

"You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting
corn on the ground.  The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the
free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a
fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up
another side of the fence.  They get used to that and start to eat again.
You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in
the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come
through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around
inside the fence, but they are caught.  Soon they go back to eating the free
corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the
woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man told the professor that that is exactly what he sees happening
to America.  The govern ment keeps pushing us toward communism/socialism and
keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of
programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income,
tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP),
welfare, Medicaid, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms-just a
little at a time.

One should always remember "There is no such thing as a free Lunch."

How do you not notice this if you are living in the home with her?

Obviously she is in desperate need of a psychiatric hospital, but what about her boyfriend of 20 years?? Did he really not know that she was pregnant?

I have been pregnant 3 times and I assure you that by 26-30 weeks it was very obvious that I was carrying and I know that my husband would have noticed a dead baby in our home.

What gives here??

I hope you all enjoy reading this as much as I did.

I haven't been around a lot because warm weather equals playing outside for me and my kids! I hope you are all having a safe, fun and activity filled summer.

We know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado.  In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant.  Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington , DC , filled to capacity by many of America ’s finest minds and leaders.  A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, “Mexifornia,” explaining how immigration – both legal and illegal – was destroying the entire state of California .  He said it would march across the country until it destr oyed all vestiges of The American Dream.

Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America .  The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States .  He said, “If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let’s destroy America .  It is not that hard to do.  No nation in history has survived the ravages of time.  Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that ‘An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.’

“Here is how they do it,” Lamm said.  “First, to destroy America , turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country.  History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures.  It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual.  The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it this way: ‘The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy.’   Canada , Belgium , Malaysia , and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence.  Pakistan and Cyprus have divided.   Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion.  France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans.”

Lamm went on: “Second, to destroy America , Invent ‘multiculturalism’ and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture.  Make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal.  That there are no cultural differences.

“Make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the majority.  Every other explanation is out of bounds.

“Third, we could make the United States an ‘Hispanic Quebec’ without much effort.  The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity.  As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: ‘The apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony (control or dominating influence by one person or group over others, especially by one political group over society or one nation over others).  Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentricity and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.’”

Lamm said, “I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture.  I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor.  It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities.

“Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated.  I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population.  I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school.

“My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money.  I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of ‘Victimology.’  I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority.  I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority population.

“My sixth plan for America ’s downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties.  I would celebrate diversity over unity.  I would stress differences rather than similarities.  Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other – that is, when they are not killing each other.  A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent.  People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together.  Look at the ancient Greeks.  The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common Language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods.  All Greece took part in the Olympic Games .  A common enemy, Persia , threatened their liberty.  Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions.   Greece fell.

“‘E. Pluribus Unum’ – From many, one.  In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the ‘Pluribus’ instead of the ‘Unum,’ we will Balkanize America as surely as Kosovo.

“Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits: make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of ‘diversity.’  I would find a word similar to ‘heretic’ in the 16th century – that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking.  Words like ‘racist’ or ‘xenophobe’ (somebody who fears or dislikes foreign people, their customs and culture, or foreign things) halt discussion and debate.

“Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of ‘Victimology,’ I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws.  I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America , it must always be good.  I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them.”

In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow.  Profound silence followed.  Finally he said, “Lastly, I would censor (to remove or change any part of a publication, play, or film considered offensive or a threat to security) Victor Hanson Davis’s book, “Mexifornia.”  His book is dangerous.  It exposes the plan to destroy America .  If you feel America deserves to be destroyed, don’t read that book.”

There was no applause.  A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference.  Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today.  Discussion is being suppressed.  Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness.  Even barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate ‘diversity.’

American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America – take note of California and other states – to date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast.  It is reminiscent of George Orwell's book “1984.”  In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: “War is peace,” “Freedom is slavery,” and “Ignorance is strength.”

Governor Lamm walked back to his seat.  It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast.  If we don’t get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path – especially The American Dream.

If you care for and love our country as I do, take the time to pass this on – just as I did for you.

NOTHING is going to happen if you don’t.

REMEMBER – THEY HAVE ALREADY STARTED TO SING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM IN SPANISH.

Granted, it is never an ideal situation when a mother feels that she is better of without a baby or the baby is better off without her..but the surrounding states all have Safe Haven laws (a baby less than 48 hrs old can be left at a Firestation, Police station or hospital with no threat of legal repercussions) and they seem to work well.

It has to be better than leaving a baby at the front steps to someones house where who knows wht sort of freaks are inside.

The most recent baby was lucky to find a woman who got help...but that doesn't mean it always happens that way.

Lets get on the ball Fenty!!

who were left to helplessly watch their fellow firefighters die in the warehouse fire that claimed 9 lives.

I don't think the Firefighters and EMS workers are given fair recognition for the job they do and the continual dangers they face. My hats off to all of them

I have been a level 2 Firefighter/Paramedic for 13 years and I have seen a lot of people come and go. It is a hard prfession and worth every smile that you see on the faces of those you help. I encourage anyone with some extra time to get in touch with thier local department and see what they can do to help. You do not need to be a firefighter or EMT, there is a lot of clerical work and fundraising work that also needs to be done and every single person is needed.

for not turning the adoption of her new baby into a media circus that was intended for nothing more than to make her popular.

No one even knew it was happening until it was done. There were no cameras swarming the hospital, no news crews interviewing everyone she has ever known..

It was a quiet, respectful adoption. as it should have been.

I am truly suprised that there wasn't mass chaos on the 14th street bridge as this criminal threw money out of his car. I do hope they find the gun though, that needs to be off the street.

If you felt that you were going to hurt it, or you felt that you may loose control. A hospital, firestation or Police station would take your child. NO one wants to see a baby get hurt. I have 4 children under the age of 3 and I assure you that I can totally see how someone couldloose control, but part of being a responsible parent is knowing when enough is enough and having the strength to either walk away for awhile or get help from someone. There is absolutely no reason at all that any child has to be hurt or killed because of an adults frustration.

I would willingly take any child into my home that couldn't properly be cared for at any time.  And I am sure that there are many of you who would do the same.

FOR ALL THE MOMS I KNOW

We are sitting at lunch when my daughter casually mentions that she and
her
husband are thinking of "starting a family."

"We're taking a survey," she says, half-joking. "Do you think I should
have
a baby?"

"It will change your life," I say, carefully keeping my tone neutral.

"I know," she says, "no more sleeping in on weekends, no more
spontaneous
vacations.."

But that is not what I meant at all. I look at my daughter, trying to
decide
what to tell her. I want her to know what she will never learn in
childbirth
classes. I want to tell her that the physical wounds of child bearing
will
heal, but that becoming a mother will leave her with an emotional wound
so
raw that she will forever be vulnerable.

I consider warning her that she will never again read a newspaper
without
asking "What if that had been MY child?" That every plane crash, every
house
fire will haunt her.

I look at her carefully manicured nails and stylish suit and think that
no
matter how sophisticated she is, becoming a mother will reduce her to
the
primitive level of a bear protecting her cub.

That an urgent call of "Mom!" will cause her to drop a soufflé or her
best
crystal without a moment's hesitation.

I feel I should warn her that no matter how many years she has invested
in
her career, she will be professionally derailed by motherhood.

She might arrange for childcare, but one day she will be going into an
important business meeting and she will think of her baby's sweet
smell. She
will have to use every ounce of her discipline to keep from running
home,
just to make sure her baby is all right.

However decisive she may be at the office, she will second-guess
herself
constantly as a mother.

Looking at my attractive daughter, I want to assure her that eventually
she
will shed the pounds of pregnancy, but she will never feel the same
about
herself. That her life, now so important, will be of less value to her
once
she has a child. That she would give it up in a moment to save her
offspring, but will also begin to hope for more years -- not to
accomplish
her own dreams, but to watch her child accomplish theirs.

I hope she will understand why I can think rationally about most
issues, but
become temporarily insane when I discuss the threat of nuclear war to
my
children's future.

I want to describe to my daughter the exhilaration of seeing your child
learn to ride a bike. I want to capture for her the belly laugh of a
baby
who is touching the soft fur of a dog or a cat for the first time.

My daughter's quizzical look makes me realize that tears have formed in
my
eyes. "You'll never regret it," I finally say.

Then I reach across the table, squeeze my daughter's hand and offer a
silent
prayer for her, and for me, and for all of the mere mortal women who
stumble
their way into this most wonderful of callings.

This blessed gift from God . . . that of being a Mother.

Please share this with a Mom that you know or a future Mom you know.

I was looking for your take on American Idol last night. I personally thought it was terrible... even Jordin who I usually like had a bad night.

I look for Lakeisha to go tonight.

You can find bad service just about anywhere, including hospitals and doctors offices.

Sorry if you guys had a bad time but I have been a patient at both Shady Grove and at WHC as well as Sibley. I have had nothing but good experiences there. I actually  work at one of the 3 mentioned and I can honestly say that some of these stories presented sound like the people just didn't have the knowledge of what was going on or didn't listen... as is common.  You are ultimately in control of who takes care of you, where you go and what services you recieve. If you do not like how you are being treated then you need to speak up and demand what you want.

And for the record, a gall stone is not a life threating emergency.

Jim Bob Duggar and wife, Michelle Duggar, 40, are expecting their 17th child together. The couple are known for their large family and the fact Jim Bob is a former state representative and U.S. senate candidate. The baby girl, due to arrive, July 27th, will be named Jennifer Danielle, keeping with tradition of naming all their children beginning with the letter J.

Michelle is now 40 and feeling a little different than how she did with her first pregnancy, at 21 however she says;

I still has plenty of energy and only minor aches and pains. With each baby, God's given me the grace and the energy to keep going, and they really keep you going. I don't get up and play the games as hard as I used to, and I try to be a little more careful.

The couple says they view every stage of their children's lives as an adventure;

I've never been a mom of a 19-year-old young man and a 17-year-old young man and woman, so every phase of parenting is an exciting adventure.

The couple says that they will continue to have children as long as Michelle can and see each child as a blessing from God;

Really, our heart is we would love to receive whatever gifts or blessings the Lord wants to give us. But I love the baby stage and I can't imagine life without having a toddler in the house.

The Duggars' other children are Joshua, 19; John David, 17; Janna, 17; Jill, 15; Jessa, 14; Jinger, 13; Joseph, 12; Josiah, 11; Joy-Anna, 10; Jeremiah, 8; Jedidiah, 8; Jason, 7, James, 5; Justin, 4; Jackson Levi, 2; Johanna Faith, 19 months.

I guess to each thier own. Kudos to them for being able to handle such a large family without any financial assistance or Government programs. I myself have had 4 babies and it has taken quite a toll on my body. I cannot imagine what I would feel like (or look like) after 17.

Seriously??? You must be kidding. It is a 45 day sentence, not the death penalty. What an idiot she is.

Paris Hilton is now part of a grass-roots campaign to keep her out of jail.

In a message that went up Monday on her MySpace page and reported in the New York Post, the hotel heiress writes (in her own spelling): "My friend Joshua started this petition, please help and sihn it. i LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!"

The petition, directed to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, asks that Hilton be pardoned from her sentence of 45 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation by driving with a suspended license. The punishment was handed down in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday. An appeal has been filed.

"I urge all fans and supporters and all that are outraged by injustice to sign this petition," writes Hilton.

Not that everyone is hopping the Hilton bandwagon – entirely.

One posting on Paris's page, from a "Raven," reads, "It's so frustrating to me when famous people get off lightly for crimes that a regular person would be held full responsibility for. I don't think she should get a full 45 days though. She didn't hurt anybody and she seems very sorry. I can see letting her go without jail time if she takes some kind of classes about alcohol abuse."

Someone who is a great booster of Hilton is her former publicist, Elliot Mintz, who was relieved of his duties after Hilton's sentence was rendered. (Mintz had wrongly informed Hilton of the status of her license, he admitted.)

Since the firing, emotions have cooled, and Mintz told PEOPLE on Monday that he planned to meet with Hilton over dinner. "We're going to talk the way intelligent folks speak to each other. Not on cell phones and blackberries," he said. "We are going to see where it takes us."

Sure enough, the duo were spotted Monday night Los Angeles riding a golf cart at Paramount Studio's New York lot, arriving for the Brent Shapiro Foundation for Drug Awareness celebration of its annual Sober Day.

Hilton's outing – which also included her 23-year-old sister Nicky and a small posse – was largely symbolic. The two sisters and Mintz left after just 25 minutes. On her way out, Hilton posed for a few photos with fans and signed several autographs.

Although many guests at the party were dismayed at the sentence Hilton received, one voiced agreement with her doing real time.

"I do think she should go to lockdown rehab – but not a nice one. I think it should be chosen by the judge," Tom Arnold told PEOPLE. "I've got some ideas – there's a place in Alabama that worked for Robert Downey Jr."

I am a mom of 4 kids. My twin boys are 2.5, I have a boy who is 1.5 and a newborn baby girl. I started out my life in the DC area, attended PG County public schools (survived to talk about it) and Graduated from UMD with a BS in Nursing. I moved west for a quieter, safer life with my family and I do not regret the move, but I miss the hustle and bustle of DC life. Luckily it is only about 40 minutes from here to Gaithersburg...even though most DC people seem to think that WV is worlds away.
