There are so many bloggers out there with our own personal ancetdotes about our nation and our lovely choice of presidential candidates. It has been said that no matter who gets voted in, little will change either way. What is your biggest worry and how it affects your life, in regards to what is going on in our society now?
so, its okay?

So, if Fulton County, which Atlanta is part of, mismanages money...the citizens have to pay. If the tax assessors make a mistake in charging less tax...the citzens still have to pay. This is almost funny. Its not funny when there is mismanagement with the spending of tax dollars, and the tax payer gets the shaft either way. I know that the City of Atlanta is not the county, but to the tax payer its the same.

Isnt there enough to report without having to ask what Obama's children think of their fathers wardrobe? What does his WARDROBE HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?
Please dont tell me Americans are so stupid to worry about what a guy thats running for the highest office is WEARING than what HE PLANS TO DO and HOW HE IS GOING TO ACCOMPLISH IT....
This isnt a dance....
When I had heard on the news that gas would rise above $4 this summer, I had just put $35.68 in my honda. I decided that I had to do something to change my habits because I cannot afford to keep spending this money, which I know is not as much as others spend, but is still alot for me. I decided after that day, I would only drive my car to the grocery store once a week, to work and ride my bike everywhere else. So far, since I have started this, I have reduced my fuel bill to $15.49-$16.28 a week in fuel..and lost 6 pounds! Now, I am riding my bicycle to work 2-3 times a week and that it will decrease my fuel bill even further, as long as the weather permits me to to. What is interesting is I am really enjoying the time I spend riding and wish I had done this before, for me and my bank account.
I dont see any sort of end coming of this, so as long as the weather allows me to ride, I believe is turning into my preferred mode of transportation....and give me a tan at the same time :-)

It is sad...truly, and also amazing.
Decades of corruption have come to a head, resting on a shoulder. The bad part about this is its not just about the airing of dirty laundry, but from former Mayors' of the past. We hear of employee personal spending IN THE THOUSANDS with those city credit cards, underestimation with computer upgrades costing twice as much, judgements against the city for not paying employee the OT when they were asked to work it, federal funding given to the sewer system that was mis-spent...the list goes on and on.
What is truly amazing is the audacity of Mayor Franklin to CONSIDER asking the citizens, who are already paying stellar property taxes and water bills, to AGAIN to PAY MORE in taxes! Why is it that when as an individual, you have to bear the brunt of the choices you make if you make a bad investment or spend frivously, there is nobody that has to pick you up from your fall unless someone wants to pick you up. BUT!!!! If you are elected to a position with the empowerment to spend the tax payers money and there is a windfall shortage in the MILLIONS....hit up the tax payer again?
The nerve.
What happened to the contractor that misquoted the computer upgrade? Why was that not reduced to only the necessary systems needed or a better question would be how extensive did they shop for the best estimate before they committed to the upgrade? Why were the employees that used the city credit card for personal use forced to return the money spent by taking it out of their checks? Why did the federal monies given for the sewer system NOT go to the sewer system and, evidently, to other projects that were not on the slate?
It is my opinion that the captain of the ship is responsible for the crew AND if there is anyone that should be let go, is the captain and the mates conspired to commit the acts...TO WALK THE PLANK! Its not for the citizens to keep picking up where the city government keeps F-ing up!
The City of Atlanta is going to be a ghost-town before long!
So...going back in time, I remember it was said that our war on terror must take us to Iraq, where intelligence showed that Saddam was hiding WMD and we must protect ourselves from Saddam inflicting any harm within our borders. Okay. Lets go, then... off to Iraq because Saddam wasnt exactly hospitable when it came to allowing weapons inspectors to verify his statement that he didnt have any WMD, and...we didnt believe him. After physically removing Sadaam from his dictatorship, we still cannot find any WMD and our Administration says that "our intelligence says they are there"....so we trudge on, and stumble upon Sadaam in a hole, and also discover mass graves of Iraquis that had been put to death by Sadaam for one reason or another. Voila! We have a reason now to detain Sadaam! And just in time....the government we are helping Iraq set up for themselves has their first set of trials for their former dictator and is sentenced to death and is quickly put to death. Our administration says that we are slowly making a difference to them. The only difference I saw was that Sadaam is no longer able to hurt anyone else and that was a good thing, but not the REASON that we went east to fight the war on terror. But, were any Americans found or rumoured to be in those graves? I didnt hear that. No, Americans became kidnapped, imprisoned, beheaded, bombed, burned and shot AFTER our arrival....to help the Iraq become a democracy and govern themselves rather than another dictator to decide for the citizens.
Onto today, its a great IDEA for a nation to be able to govern themselves and take ADVICE from another nation that is a bit better experienced at it. However, when dealing with a people that had been born and bred to fight since Jesus walked this earth, how can we expect anything different? So far, thousands of the new Iraqui police and soldiers have been fired because they would not fight when called to defend, even turned over vehicles and weapons to the militias they went up against, wether it be because it was their own people or against their own beliefs or whatever the reason. What if in all of this administrations wisdom, we have trained an enemy against us. Did anyone really believe that thousands of years of breeding will change the way of a people in a few years? Is the constant discord in the middle east surprising at all?
What I see is the way of Iraq going back to the way it always was and those who do not agree with the way of the land will emigrate here or to another country that works better with their belierfs and way they want to live their lives. I think that is the difference wanting something better for a people and expecting them to change a way of life to something that is not theirs.
Oh, Eliot...this is almost funny

This was just on the news, and I could only catch part of it. Evidently one of Governer Spitzers many pre-elected victories was prosecuting a prostitution ring that had resulted in 18 convictions. What an accomplishment, eh? That would be great if one practiced what he preaches. Makes you wonder... could this be were his source for his largesse was derived? I guess the saying goes, "do as I say, not as I do". Its true though, a few of the New York residents WANT Spitzer to remain in office so he can spend the rest of his Governership with egg on his face. I dont know if I share that opinion. Now, the repubs are demanding he step down within 48 hours or will begin impeachment proceedings. As the story continues.....
what is the difference?

A man buys, keeps and cares for foxes and coyotes for the purpose of providing chase for hunting dogs in a acred pen. Occasionaly, some of the gaming animals get killed by the dogs....not all the time, but sometimes.
Another man, keeps dogs at his house. He trains them and fights them against other dogs. Some of the dogs die from their injuries. Others are put down for their lack of performance. Sometimes, but not all the time.
Besides a bitter divorce, celebrity status and media attention....what is the difference between the two? I dont really see much of a difference. Its interesting to see so many people absolutely tear Mike Vick down for what he did....I personally believes he deserves what he gets because he was wrong in the choices he made. But I read so many blogs with hunters defending their "sport" of having their dogs chase after game creatures for amusement to the core. I believe this pen owner deserves what he gets because he made wrong choices. Yet, hundreds of people are tearing down Randy Travis for reporting only one side of a story of a fox pen owner and what its like to run and operate a pen and what has happened. At the same time, they tear down Mike VIck for having his dog fighting pen.
Really....whats the difference?
I imagine one day, we will take our grandchildren for a ride in our hovercar and pass what used to be our lakes, now dry and evaporated; developers had begun to build a huge neighborhood called Lanier Downs because barren land in this state has to be built on and habitated by someone because population density creates dollars for everyone around. We pass by what used to be that lake and tell stories how we used to use to race boats and water ski and get the sunburns of our lives and fish on that lake. We would become angry telling the story because we knew what it used to be and we dont have it anymore. Our grandchildren would ask what happened to the lake. What will we tell them? That a long time ago, we had a time were we didnt get any rain and that lake was getting low because we used to be able to use this lake for play and for consumption for our own area, but this Army Corps of Engineers felt it necessary to send our water from that lake to other neighboring states and to maintain the lives of rare mussels. They would ask what are mussels? We would tell them they are a type of shellfish. Then they might ask: why are shellfish more important than people?
What will we say? I know its about more than shellfish. But, what is the sense of sending billions of gallons of water downstream when our state has no other water source, and no assistance from any of our neighboring states when in fact they scoff and brag that they have the water and why dont we leave our state and go live where they have the water? Its ludicrous and boggles the mind that a judge ruled that based on our circumstances, there has been a minimal reduction in the water released from Lake Lanier. Why are there STILL many people that defy the system and water their lawns in the middle of the night? This is a serious thing that is happening any yet anything we are trying to do to reduce our consumption is thwarted by the daily drainage by the Corps. Whats going to happen when they drain the last of the water? We will be screwed and they'll say "Thanks for the water, but now those states that you sent the water to are now converting their salt water from the coast for consumption....so we wont need your water anymore, not that you have any!"
The Cost of Freedom

Like yin and yang, there are 2 sides to freedom. The average American has to work to pay for their lives. That leaves the hardest workers in a place where as long as they are abiding the laws, paying their taxes and their bills they will be left alone to pursue their happiness. That is just ONE of the rights we are guaranteed in the US Constitution. Ignorance fuels the oncoming world government that we are all inching towards. The government likes that you work hard so they can do their dirty deeds that will be almost impossible to repeal once they are voted in and signed into law. How many of you actually pay attention to what our elected officials vote for or against? Have you ever READ the Patriot Act or pay attention to what homeland security is paying attention to? Did you know that President Bush signed executive orders giving him sole authority to impose martial law, and suspend habeas corpus giving HIM dictatorial power over the people, without any checks and balances? This means that for ANY REASON, the US Government can jail you for life without charges, without a trail and without a lawyer.
Look at the technology out there and how it has assisted us in our daily lives. Did you ever think it could be used against us and might not know it? Do you think its cool to have a little barcode on your keychain to buy your dinner at Sonics? Ever think they are just lubing us up with all the technological genius for the screwing of our lives? Don’t think there is a price? Did you know that that Homeland security plans to implant each and every American with an RF chip to track their whereabouts and also place RF chips placed in the US currency to the point it will come down to a chip that can actually zero you out just by it being turned off and you will be rendered a non citizen. The law known as the “Real ID Act” takes effect in May 2008. I dont know if I can let them give me a shot in the arm with a purely programmable RF chip that the government can control me with. Imagine not being able to get money out of your bank account because of what is programmed in your chip.
The War on Terror is a ploy our government uses to control our lives. After 9/11, people became terrified that the terrorists might get them. Ever think that our government might have some of that in mind when it comes to gaining more control over the people? Did you know that pentagon plans on launching a national database that the government will use to monitor every purchase made by EVERY AMERICAN because they deem it is a necessary tool to fight the war on terror. I didn’t know it was important that the government needed to know when my time of the month was….or that I needed new guitar strings and why I went to the Guitar Center in Gwinnett rather than the one in Midtown since it was closer....control.
Ever wonder why our border control is on the low end of the totem pole? In 2005, George W Bush signed a formal agreement merging the US with Mexico and Canada without Congress or a vote from the People. Its called the Security and Prosperity partnership of North America and the Canadian Prime Minister Martin, Dubya and Vicente Fox down plays it down to “its not what we think”. Really? What are we supposed to think when Dubya makes these decisions that go on well after his Presidency. God, who knows who will take over. Does anyone want the constitution back? Do you see what has happened without it?
Think about the steps in history that have brought us to where we are, then ask yourself if these laws that we follow were actually ratified or if they were just accepted because they were forced on us by power. The US constitution states that no law can come to pass unless it is ratified by three fourths vote of the legislature of each state. In 1913 the Federal Reserve Act was passed without the required constitutional amendment as a result of bankers; JP Morgan, John D Rockefeller and Paul Warburg bribing the senators during Christmas vacation with many senators at home with their families unable to vote. In 1919, President Wilson, who signed that bill into law regretted signing it because he said this industrial nation would be then be controlled by a system of credit and would become a government by the opinion of a small group of dominant men, the bankers. He was right, wasnt he? But as usual, they are always regretful AFTER the damage had been done…but that’s the power of money, isnt it? These same powerful bankers had convinced the Secretary of State Knox to lie that the 16th amendment for income tax had been ratified when it was not. An organization of concerned Americans, WeThePeople researched which states actually ratified the 16th amendment, only 20 states, which is not a three fourths vote. Ratification would require 36 states to vote for the bill to pass. But the Secretary of State told the people that it was ratified so all these years people have been voluntarily paying federal income tax that is policed by the almighty IRS. Me too.
People don’t show interest or believe these things will affect them until it has happened to them. Let that marinate in your head for a while. The Settlers sailed from England to escape the tax system that is nothing compared to what we now experience. Are YOU scared yet? I am terrified. There is nowhere we can sail to escape what is headed for us. Unfortunately, I am one of those Americans that didn’t pay that much attention to what was being voted on because I was working to pay my bills and my debts to Mr. Big Banker. Shame on me. I know I am part of the problem by not paying attention when I should have been. I should have taken the extra time out of the day to see what is going on and what our government is voting in on the ruse of "our behalf". WE are letting the government get us! Now….what are WE going to do to get more educated about not letting it get any worse than it is?

that high school kid said WHAT???

There are so many buzz words that exist in this Politically Correct Country. This kid said 3 of them: homosexual, marriage and error. Oh, and the word Bible...4 words. Oh, Lord! Gosh, that was another one!
People have their opinion about this on both sides. Some dont care either way. I imagine this kid knew what he was getting into before he wrote it, while he edited it and had it published in his high school newspaper.
Its his right to say it, just like its your right to disagree with what he wrote..or agree, whatever. You know what it was like in high school. I hope that this kid is ready for what is coming..the prom may not be in his future next spring. Anyhow, I commend him for having the nerve to say what he believed in this age where its only comfortable to say what is "politically correct". Kudos, kid!
The Federal Authorities have started deportation proceedings for an 85 year old man that handled and trained dogs as a Nazi guard at Dachau and Buchehwald. The reason to deport a former Nazi guard is obvious. I am just curious why this was never discovered until now....52 years later. Better late than never?
Some people just dont know when to stop. Was it not enough that Mike Vick was first suspected of posession with this bottle with the secret compartment. It proved to be nothing, but he sould have gotten a clue, but didnt.
Then, after getting a rashing from the press and fans, he flips off the fans on national television after a game...again...he does very little to show humility. After this, it was discovered that is Virginia property was used to house, train , fight and kill dogs. Naturally, he denies it.
When the State and Federal authorities produce more and more evidence against him, the only thing he had to say to the press was that "all over the world, no matter where I go, people are going to love Michael Vick, no matter what". REALLY?! He still did nott move in his position or attitude at all..
This, in my opinion, is a bad attitude fueled by his wealth and popularity. Nobody is infallable. But STILL, he doesnt move in his position. Only after his co-conspirators agreed to testify against him, did he relent. Now, he has plead guilty and is facing Federal charges and now the State of Va is intending to press State charges.
TODAY...Mike Vick tests positive for marijuana! This just makes me shake my head and wonder WHAT ELSE has to happen to this man in order to get right. IF he was in the company of others who were smoking pot....if I was out on bail, pending sentencing and possibly state charges, in a room with other people smoking pot would be the LAST place I would be. It doesnt matter if he was in a room with others smoking pot, or smoking it himself. The intelligence associating himself with that scene is just amazing to me.
Throwing trashbags on the road rant

This has been going on for 2 years now....
I live in a part of Georgia where the illegals held a protest because they were pi$$ed at the suggestion of possible deportation. Ever since this protest, one of the main roads in my area (which is ridden with apartment complexes and condos) has turned in to a place where people who dont want to throw away the trash in a logical way (in the dump at their complex), actually put it on the back of their car or truck, take a ride on the main road and wherever the trash bag lands is where it stays. Then someone who is driving on the road, who cannot avoid it is some cases, runs over it, causing the trash bag to break, and the trash to strow all over the road. I saw a car doing this one day and when I was reaching to write down the plate #, I saw there was not one on there at all....so nobody can call the cops on them and get busted for littering, which is a $500 fine on this road.
I really dont know why whoevertheyare feels the need to do this. This has been going on 2 years now and it makes my blood boil when I see the trash all over the street.
The residents in my neighborhood go to clean up the mess, where the road is in our part of the neighborhood, and it never stops. The next day, there are more bags of trash out to replace what was picked up and I am so f$&$&$ tired of it!
Is it because you cant pay your bills? Is it your way of flipping us off? Is it because you want to feel at home? I just dont understand why you do this and I dont want to understand. I hope you get caught, you and everyone else that is doing it, because it shows your sorry attitude towards where you live.
Does this make anyone else mad? I cant imagine I am the only one...

A man in a county courthouse overtakes a female officer before his trail, takes her weapon and breaks into a courtroom, shoots and kills the judge and a court reporter- with witnesses. We all know who this is...
A man shoots and kills his ex-girfriends step father, then drives to his ex-wife's house and shoots her-both with witnesses. We all know who this is....
Why is it, its reported that these blatant crimes against people are alleged as if "maybe" they did it, when there were witnesses that can verify that these people performed the crimes they have done? What is the media afraid of...telling the truth?
