There are so many buzz words that exist in this Politically Correct Country. This kid said 3 of them: homosexual, marriage and error. Oh, and the word Bible...4 words. Oh, Lord! Gosh, that was another one!

People have their opinion about this on both sides. Some dont care either way. I imagine this kid knew what he was getting into before he wrote it, while he edited it and had it published in his high school newspaper.

Its his right to say it, just like its your right to disagree with what he wrote..or agree, whatever. You know what it was like in high school. I hope that this kid is ready for what is coming..the prom may not be in his future next spring. Anyhow, I commend him for having the nerve to say what he believed in this age where its only comfortable to say what is "politically correct". Kudos, kid!

By LAW, we are GUARANTEED the "RIGHT" to "FREE SPEECH" and that RIGHT is not and CAN NOT be removed by ANY ONE.

(Baby Seals don't have that right, so I can smack 'em over the head with my club!...it's okay ...they like it..*smile baby seal...smile*)

did you see the reaction on the news....some people only like to use "freedom of speech" when it applies to them or helps them.

One step forward, two steps back. Welcome to America!

As long as you have attacks on Free Speech like the "Don Imus" spectacle and lately the Rush Limbaugh fiasco, everyone is subject to live in an ever escalating Tyrannical state that will soon destroy our Constitution.

It's called "Boiling the Frog under a LOW FLAME" that way the frog doesn't even realize that he is being boiled to death.

Think I'm being over-dramatic? Not but within the last month there was a woman who noticed a power line survey team on her property along with some police. She confronted them and asked them what they were doing on her property. The POLICE arrested her! I wonder what the charge was?..AGGRAVATED QUESTIONING with the intent TO DEFEND ONE'S RIGHTS?
Yeah, she's dangerous alright!.....
The British thought us settlers were dangerous too...with all that ...wanting Free Speech without reprecussions....I wonder how that all worked out.

My b/f daughter goes to Kell and today, the faculty and staff confiscated every copy in the building and demanded any other copies returned to the school or else.....free speech, huh?

From what I heard, there appear to be many "in the family" at this particular school and the kid that wrote the editorial has caught all kinds of hell. This would be interesting; who do you think the ACLU would side with for something like this?

It doesnt matter what my opinion of something is, but I can voice it, just like you can tell me that they think I am full of ....
only if it escalates to a physical altercation, then freedom of speech becomes
aggrivated questioning and someone is going to get arrested.

Cromagnon and Lisa.....I agree that our RIGHT to freedom of speech is being abridged. Next....they'll be abridging our right to bear arms....If I'm not mistaken, the Bolshivics did this in Russia before the October revolution. The first step to a SOCIALIST society is the taking away of basic rights. People, what we need is a good old fashioned peaceful revolution. As a poster on my blog stated.....we are more concerned with our sports teams then what happens in our country. This is sad but true......And I agree Lisa, kudo's to the kid for having the gumption to write what he felt.

We all need to get together and develop a strategy to educate the common man like ourselves. If y'all are in agreement, please let me know.

This is probably why I am most annoyed with government and some people; you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make him drink.

Thanks Russell, I try.

You're absolutely right Lisa and Russell. Normally idiotic attacks on "FREE SPEECH" have been 'calculated' if you will with a prior battle plan to somehow appear as 'authoritative' but without credentials. And the victim is 'always' caught off guard and then cannot respond fast enough with logic because of the 'shock and awe' effect the attacker uses. Then the attacker hastly leaves and leaves his victim 'stunned' as to 'just what the hell happened?' feeling.

The key is 'don't be a victim!' stay on guard, have key factual points at the ready. The objective is 'when attacked by one of these bozo's' is to make them utterly STUPID and turn the shock and awe back on them. Let them stumble for words and look like an ass. Be rude, be quick, then leave when you're on top.
LEAVE HIM WITH THAT 'just what the BLEEP happened?" feeling!

That's how trends are made. Because it spreads like a fungus and soon we are all infected.

But I'm just a simple caveman.

It's called "SOCIAL ENGINEERING". And trust me, those who want to take our freedoms away are experts at it. How do you think Political Correctness has gotten so far?

15 years ago if you said that some crimes would be tried as "HATE" Crimes, most of us would laugh and call that person "nuts!".

But look at us now. SOCIAL ENGINEERING works kids!.. Don't ignore it.

One more thing, when you read the newspaper, check the wording they use when they mention "Free Speech". They normally don't use the words "RIGHT TO" because the word 'RIGHT' is definite, unambiguous, and undebateable. That's why they stay away from that word or add some other word to somehow insinuate that it is NOT REALLY A ABSOLUTE RIGHT.

The reason why I mention this is because I know I either read it or heard it on one of the news mediums and it struck up a "RED FLAG" in my mind but I was in a hurry and can't remember which media I saw or heard it from.
sorry. I'll keep looking though.
