The Federal Authorities have started deportation proceedings for an 85 year old  man that handled and trained dogs as a Nazi guard at Dachau and Buchehwald. The reason to deport a former Nazi guard is obvious. I am just curious why this was never discovered until now....52 years later. Better late than never?

Congrats! lisa,

Looks like you're the SPECIAL PIC of the week!

I think WWII is over. I understand to deport him but I think its a little too late for he has already reaped the benefits of living in a free country and the profits of capitalism. So basically now we're giving him a free trip back to Europe! Why can't I be that lucky?

You know what....the story earlier didnt describe much and left questions in my head. Now, when more of the story aired tonight, it made me think about it more. He was injured before the war started and he was assigned to train german shepherds. I dont think this is fair.

The first thing I think about is what made the feds ask him about this at all? I just look in this mans eyes and with the look in his eyes, I believe he is telling the truth. I dont think this is a man that had participated in the horrible acts that the feds are describing.
Its not sitting very well with me after
learning more of the story.

I was really on the fence about saying it in my initial post but will say it now...what good can come of deporting a senior citizen who apparently has no sort of criminal record and has lived here quietly for 52 years.

Something stinks....

This is basically a way for the government to say "we did something" rather than go after those who are here illegally and committing crimes now rather than decades ago.

I just cant stop thinking about this....

There had to be a reason this investigation started back in March of 2007 and nobody is saying why. He had only been here since 1955, not long... I cant imagine this came out of the clear blue sky.

How many more senior citizens past the sunset of their lives would the INS like to deport?

WWII is over....and we won the war!

If the INS is itching to deport...there are more relevent cases to pursue.

Centauri....I know....its just backwards. But not a peep as to WHY the investigation began.
That is why I think something stinks.

and...what is the statute of limitations for something like this....52 years? I am sure a lawyer could help with this.....

-There are millions of Jews that would probably be shocked at any reluctance to hold this individual accountable.
-My Uncle (God rest his soul) was with a division that freed one of these camps. for the rest of his life he was never the same for the horror he saw. I'm not sure I think it was Auschwitz. We all grew up knowing that was what had ruined him. so if it was that bad for the soldiers who freed them how bad was it for the people who are still alive today who still bear the tattooed numbers on their arms and or lost their family members. Someone probably just ratted him out. If I were Jewish, I would just see a Nazi.
- have you seen Shindlers list?
- also a great book for children "Number the Stars" its a quick easy read for adults too.
-I agree Its is sad to see an elderly person in such a situation.

He was part of the SS (shultzstaffe), he was a killer. He joined the NAZI party on his own volition. Granted, life was not very good for the commoner, but I would rather die than to kill a person for their religious beliefs, unless they attacked our nation like the muslim extremist who flew palnes into the towers. When this happens, all bets are off, it's either them are us.

russell_brock,

LOL... errhh ...uhh. I believe what you're trying to say is "SCHUTZSTAFFEL" (SS).
"SHULTZ" is the GERMAN GUARD in "HOGAN's HEROES" TV show. I don't think SGT. SHULTZ was that angry of a man. LOL.
Hey GERMAN is TOUGH!..I know!

However, Russel you make a excellent point.

This story is nothing but a BY-PRODUCT of Political Correctness RUN AMOK!

I mean really, are we going to deport every German in-country that had fought in WWII?

I am with lisa, this thing stinks to high heaven!

Cromagnon....you're completely right, I did make a spelling error. Thank you for being so kind in pointing that out. I teach ESL (english as second language), I tend to get a little tired in the mind. But once again I do appreciate that and I concede my error

Hi Joy. I just dont know....its like the investigation came from....what? I think more of it is because of his age.

I know there are probably alot of people that disagree with what I said. But the REASON why has happened is what is troubling. I can understand it if this guy was an actual guard that lined them up, etc. Yes, I have seen Schindlers List.

But think about this...if he was training dogs, how would he know exactly where they were going? How do we know that this guys only job is the world and he was not privy to any other information. Like if a US soldier preps a plane and gets it ready for flight....the PC doesnt know where its going, its not necessary for them to know. The PC just has to do their job.

Anyway, that was the way I was thinking about it. I think the blame should be assigned where it is due. Its not my intention to offend the memory of the jews that died so horribly in those camps. After all, we went there fighting to free them as fast as we could.

Oh, and PC means Plane Captain, not politically correct.

I understand what you are saying Brock. I just have really mixed emotions about it because if it were me...I am with you.

I think anybody who survives 85 years on this planet should be absolved of all sin.

Hi thatlisagirl,
You know it had to be horrible thing to be a nazi come into this country and live as an law abiding citizen.
But all the while looking over your shoulder wondering if you will be discovered.
How will the people who are in your life feel if this ever comes to light.
Now, you live until the age of 85. Now, somebody finds out and they want to make an example of you and you've lost all contact with a world that you left behind 52 yrs ago. What would if it was your family member going through this mess.

You know, I dont think its a question as to whether his family knew. I am sure his family knows everything and if this was my father, or grandfather, I would still love him, because I most likely would not have been here if he chose differently, and I think I would be relieved that training dogs at the barrackes wass the most of his involvement.

Many contend that since he was a SS, in any capacity, he should be held to the fire. He was 10 years old when he signed on and everyone knows back then, it was expected and if for the KIDS didnt agree, they wouldnt have lived. So, I guess this guy was damned if he did and damned if he didnt. He wouldnt have lived himself if he didnt sign.

Based on what has been stated as his position and where he was during this 2-3 month period, I respectfully disagree after hearing more and more of the story. I hate to repeat myself, but if this guy was an officer, or a guard that dealt with the human destruction...I could see it. But, I understand why many wouldnt agree with me and its not my intention to disrespect the memory of the jews that died in the holocaust. I am just trying to bring out a reasonable point that makes sense to me.

Still, nobody says what precipitated the investigation. I guess nobody will.

When can we expect all the War criminals from JAPAN to be Deported? And WHY STOP THERE! We could move on and punish the NEXT GENERATION!

This is absolutely NONSENSE! The powers to be had their chance since 1955 when they (the Govt.) decided to let him in without a security check. Now if he was Dr. Mengala, I could see it. But this story is like convicting the the person giving a German Soldier a drink of water as a WAR CRIMINAL.

Yes he trained dogs. But imagine this, you're 19 years old, and your government dictates you to do this ....OR ELSE! FACT: The NAZI party was NOT "world renowned" for swaying people to do things politely. Now anyone with a forth of a brain can understand that comment.
