Wesley Snipes was recently sentenced to three years in prison for continued tax evasion.

Did you ever wonder how many people would go to prison if they took every person that has paid no tax for the last five years?

Baring people with disabillities, students and special circumstances.

Being the top 50% of wage earners pay 97% of all income tax almost half the country pays no income tax!  Out of this amount I wonder how many have paid no tax for at least 5 years? Many of these people use welfare, section 8 housing, foodstamps etc..

I agree we should be concerned with Wesley Snipes not paying taxes, but shouldnt we also be concered with those that choose to go many years sometimes decades without employment or pay taxes?

If you were incharge what you do?

I wouldnt count on that, you have a huge government agency in place thats not likely to go away. Bortz keeps pumping the flat tax to sell books & knows he is just spitting in the wind..

what if the flat tax was passed into law....what makes you think that higher rates wont almost immediately be padded into the flat tax and raise again, and again, and again? i dont hear anyone saying anything about that....like the ultimate answer is the flat tax when it comes to holding onto your money. its only a wish.

no matter which way it goes...we are in deep $hit.

there are too many do-nothings out there that that get to make their way in the world with you and I paying for them thru the tax system.

it doesnt matter anymore that the 16th amendment was never oficcialy ratified - only 20 states voted for it and needed 36 to be ratified...but because way back then, people evidently believed anything the government said....the secretary of state said "YES! It is now law!" shrugged their shoulders and everyone started paying...and keet on paying and its been a machine that cannot be stopped...at least yet.

you can be thrown in jail for not giving part of you earned wages to the government...if they want to. i have seen first hand what they will do to someone and it sickening. in the IRS world its not innocent till proven guilty but the other way around.

i am surprised Wesley didnt have good write offs, usually ones alot of money get to keep most of theirs with all the shelters the IRS allows.

I once was told by the IRS I had to pay taxes to a company I had not worked for and I had to prove I didnt! They had tax problems and got a hold of random names to try and use to get out of their mess!

Im a Emergency Medical Technician and in the last year I worked to pass a law to make it mandatory for all ambulances in the State of Michigan to carry Heart Defibrillators!!! In 2005 only around 20% of private ambulances carried them!!! Because I passed the law several organizations have me on a job black list and will not hire me!!! It doesnt matter because I recently became an EMT to save lives and by having Defibrillators on all ambulances many lives will be saved!!! In my spare time I also collect unusual antique stuff and I have a large Faygo collection dating back to 1921!!!
