statueman's Blog

I stop watching the news every once and awhile... the last time I did this I don't think I watched any news program for about 6 months.  This time its been from about a week after Senator Obama won the democratic race till now.  I mean oh sure.... a snippet of Hannity a dash of O Rielly (who for some odd reason I'm starting to like) and about a halve a bowl of CNN's Lou Dobbs.

Last couple of nights I watched alittle bit of CNN's "Black in America" since, well... I wanted to know what it's like to be black in America.  Every once and awhile I think I might even be black in America.  Wasn't there an old rock song about being Black in the USSR and not knowing how lucky we are?  Oh don't mind me I thought Hendrix was gay for years cause he was always asking to be excused so he could "kiss this guy".

Anywho...

Every once and awhile the news gets boring and redundant to me to the point where I wonder how I could have ever watched so much of it with such avid interest before.  Seems I've taken a day or two off blogging as well.  Every once and awhile it seems to me I get tired of my own agenda and start to realize that I'm just a silly old blogger with a thumb print picture and a few folks who seem to like to read my stuff and give me a hard time about it.

This is sort of a Sienfeldian blog if you haven't figured that out yet... I've really got absolutely nothing to say but 'hello' and 'you know' you know?  Every once and awhile I step back and read what I've already written and ask myself (if writen has two 't's or one) if the points I'm trying to get accross have any validity to them at all.  Ten years from now what will I think about the blogs I've written. (OK yeah two t's I googled it.)

So if the news has got you down just remember... you don't need those expensive anti-depressants.... just stop watching the news and stop worrying about the state the worlds in and every once and a while, if you do that then you may start translating the writing on the wall... and you might start hearing solutions in the donut shop...  and then, every once and a while a little child may prophesy to you as you serve soup at the local soup kitchen.

The news just repeats itself,
Like some forgotten dream
That we've both seen..

In the grand scheme of things that our American freedoms allow us to do and say much while at the same time actually doing and saying very little I cannot help but deeply appreciate your contributions to this heady blog about nothing.

We all need a break now and then. And I know what you mean about looking at words three times to try to remember if they're correct. But when it comes down to it, I'll defer to Burke.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

Should I be worried? I read the whole blog and I agreed with it and what's more it made complete good sense to me! A Dr. told me years ago to STOP watching and listening to the news. Have to say it worked better than any of his fancy schmancy pills! And it's all kind of like a soap opera, you can miss a whole week and pick right up where ya left off! Nope, don't need all the crap they're trying to spoon feed us, and I'm tired of paying to watch TV and having sooo many commercials crammed down my throat!!! I'm not paying to watch commercials.

Happyg, yup... somewhere in the OT prophets one says that when truth is cast out of the square prudent men hide themselves. So... sometimes good men do nothing because there is no good they can do.

1olgrama,

Don't worry. Just ask Alice when she's ten feet tall and don't go running to the shelter of mothers little helper. If you chose not to decide you haven't made a choice unless you listen to the song and don't read the lyrics. I have a dream and the blank checks about to get signed. So thanks and may life, liberty and trivial persuit be yours from time to time. Nothing small about small talk and Fat Albert really liked his pudding.

I'm a retired vet who loves to come up with donut shop solutions through soup kitchen prophecies. My goal is to encourage the growth of alternative sentencing through "habilitation" programs. These quiet unsung organizations need our quiet unsung support. (Edit May 24, 2008, Of course since then I've been getting into more interesting material.) _________________________
I don't delete comments in my blogs as I don't like it when folks delete mine. (Edit June 11, 2008 - I have and will delete posts argueing about interpretation of scripture.)(Edit August 18, 2008 - I've decided too delete the comments of folks who continually use offensive name calling.) _________________________
OK... all predictions deleted since Mc Cain did'nt win. Brook White did'nt win Idol and Hillary did'nt drop out of the election. Congratulations to us all on a new President. The first President to be only hafe white as far as we all know. But it's ok the sepratist have been predicting an invasion of mongrel hordes and let's hope they took their can openers to their caves. After all... this really is a free country.
