Iran fired off about 9 long range and medium range missiles.  Amazing what a bit of oil will buy these days.  So, how long is long range?  Long enough to deter a potential U.S. invasion and have a missile or two land on main street in Chicago or San Fran?

I also wonder if Iran saw the report that congress has authorized several hundred thousand dollars for covert operations in Iran.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the U.S. lived in fear of missiles the way Israelis and Iraqi's do?

With the price of oil going even higher, it would seem that they could afford all the missiles and technology to make it happen.

The fact that they even fired off a few missiles sent oil back up the $9.00/barrel that it had lost on Monday and Tuesday.  Times several million barrels/day.....hmmm.

Iran knows that Isreal is not going toplay with them and they are scared. It is one thing to brag another to back it up. By threatening us they think Isreal will back down but they forget, Isreal is not going to wait to see who gets elected here, they are going to protect themselfs at all cost. Iran should never threaten to take them out if they did not want a war.

Three Words. Missle Defense Shield.
Ronald Reagan again proving a visionary ahead of his time. The US lived through decades of threat from Missles (intercontinental Ballistic Missles). No big deal there because Iran's only have a max range of 1500 to 2000 miles; so Chicago and all it's rot on main street are safe. Check out Shahab 3 missles and capability on Janes Defense website if you wish. Those Shahab 3's are not capable for Nuclear payloads either. Iran is the Mouse that Roared today. Toothless roar at that.

three more words, Israel has nukes...
two more, Iran doesn't...

I'm not worried either, their election cycle has a two four-year term limit. I mean really, how much stuff can Ahmadinejad mess up in 5 more years (if he gets reelected)... wait, what country am I talking about?

Does anyone really believe that even if Iran developed a nuclear weapon. They wopuld commit suicide by shooting it at Israel?

Come on people wise up a little bit.

Wow... we are scared over a country that has NOT MILITARY WHAT SO EVER!! And the CIA has said MANY times there is NO evidance that Iran is working on a nuclear missle. So what if they are testing out long range missles. We do it all the time. Same with everyone else. The real threat is North Korea, and here we are worrying about a coutry that barly has a government?!?! People are actually talking about throwin a nuclear missle at them before anything. We didn't throw a nuclear weapon at the USSR, and they were a MUCH bigger threat than Iran. And we got through it. Why can't we get through this with Iran?

Russia could defend itself. Iran can too but not to the extent that Russia could. It's easier to beat up on a 3rd world country than it is to pick a fight with a country capable of standing up to you.

The difference between Iran and Russia is that Iranians are crazy and suicidal. Bad combination. I don’t think some of their leaders would be hesitant in martyring their entire population. But then they have something that scares people more than missiles — oil. They could double, if not triple, the price of oil in a 24-hour period if they wanted to get really crazy.

If the Iranians are so suicidal, then why havent they attacked?

The test (?) did just what it was intended to do, raise the price of oil. They can make up the cost of the missiles in one day. Compare a nine dollar increase to the one dollar increase cause by running some cigar boats by our ships in the gulf. If I were in their position I would have run a one missile test for nine weeks instead of nine at once. They would have really freaked if we had just blown em out of the air, or better yet hit their launch vehicles while they were on the ground.

This was Irans way to show both Israel and US that Iran will defend itself if attacked. I hope BOTH got the message.

I wish we were off the mideast oil tap. Then we could care little about what happens over there other than standing behind Israel.

Actually most of our oil comes from Mexico and Canada.
