The politicians in office need to abide by the CONSTITUTION and not feed their own egos. Our forefathers were true libertarian thinkers who thought completely outside of the box. OUR CONSTITUTION IS BEING COMPLETELY CRAPPED ON BY THE CURRENT POLITITIONS TO INCLUDE KING BUSH. I think the american constituency is completely miffed at the way our country is being ran into the ground. It’s not about doing what I wanna do and doing it now , it’s about diminishing the size of our gargantuan government and giving us back our rights

My fellow bloggers, if y'all agree, please post what you feel is best for our country. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

IT'S WELL PAST TIME FOR THE CITIZENRY TO TAKE BACK THE COUNTRY.

What a wonderful concept. I think Ive heard it before...oh yeah...this is the way it was supposed to be. BUT! Freedom has an evil side and power is the shield that makes the politcians invisible to rule or reason but demands the rights that were provided for their own benefit. Knowledge has created several divisions in opinion and attitude.

Some people believe that role of the goverment is to provide for their livelihood while they do as they wish with what they are given. They rarely try to do for themselves and hold out a hand because its what they were raised to believe is the way it works.

Some people believe that the role of the government is to protect their rights so they can provide for themselves and prosper as long as they are within the laws.

There have been so many wrong things that happened in our history. In our history, many of our ancestors before us had the habit of picking and choosing how the constitution and bill of rights applied to their lives. Whether it was the right thing to do or not. Kind of like different religious denominations.

The Declaration of Independence states:
"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness"

I say vote them all out of office and start over. I used to think it was a joke, but wouldnt it be interesting government work was like a tour of duty

I dont know what the answer is really, because there are so many clashing beliefs that nobody can get along. I guess thats why the government is as corrupt as it is. It represents the nations population.

Lisa.....you are completely right, we see in our politicians what we see in ourself....CORRUPTION.

Self rule, which would be the next course of action, but that would be complete and utter chaos. The answer to this question would be to elect someone that takes the constitution for what it is....a legal and binding contract with the people of this nation and not just a piece of paper. My political thought may be that, just a philosophy. If more people thought the way you or I thought, than this country would be better off.

If I'm not mistaken....it was Patrick Henry who said "Give me liberty or give me death". This saying was rather profound, because at that time, our nation was fledgling in its inception. This was taken quite literally because of the existence of our nation, but today people aren't willing to sacrifice for the pusuit of liberty. If we were willing to sacrifice, than our country wouldn't be in the shape it is today. As my initial blog stated, WE NEED TO TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY.

My dad and I get into arguments about this all the time...he says the same thing you do, Russell: vote someone in office that has the constitution in mind. But its my opinion that once they get to "the show" they lose their way and becaome one of them.

I said this in another post...what if it were ammended that there is an interim vote in the middle of the term and the constituents receive a "progress report" reviewing their voting record, their accomplishments while there, criminal activity, etc. If the elected official loses the interim vote, there would be a special election to replace that seat.
Kind of progressive...I know folks at the show
wouldnt like that, but I believe if people become more aware of what is going on, they will begin to care more about who represents you. The representation in our district is hideous, but I am not going there today.

We are getting closer and closer to a socialist society as it is. It wont be much more before it will be come a socialist nation. Then, in order to keep they money you earn, will have to resort to the underground economy, like they do in New Zealand.

Its sad and it gets worse every year. There is not enough room in this blog to outline the contempt I have for our government and it starts with W. That fool doesnt veto anything, except stem cell research, and will veto the SChip bill if it passes, and I belive it did. So, that will possibly be 2 bills he has vetoed. He has allowed the most outrageous spending there ever was in the history of this nation, didnt line item veto one penny. GOD...dont get me start

Lisa....you're right....it all begins with W. I will agree with you that our nation is becoming more and more socialist each day. I pray to GOD each that Hillary with her Hillary care doesn't make it into office. At this point, it is rather tenuous at best, to see that we have no candidate running with the true interest of the people.

I totally agree...

Many countries require their citizens to serve in the military. I always wondered why it was a national requirement to serve in a branch of military. I think that is why there are so many brats out there with a holier than thou outlook on life. Military doesnt care how much you make or who you are, just have to do a certain job and that teaches you how to work with different people. It should be a requirement if you ask me.

I have nightmares about Hillary becoming president. I think it would be a nice change if there was a woman in office that was of the right calibre. BUT NOT HER! That is a scary, scary thought.

But, because of W, I feel like the next pres is going to be a dem...and what I can see is if Obama loses the nomination, he will run with Hil for VP, and vice-versa if she loses the nomination. I predicted this to my dad and he thinks I am full of it. I kinda hope I am full of it.

Right now, the most conservative that is running is Thompson. I dont think Guilliani has enough experience from being a mayor but because of the great job he did after 9/11 is what will win alot of votes.

There are alot of possible firsts in this coming pres election. All we need is COMMON JOE to run and hopefully he can take it all.

I often consider persuing politics in the future... I personally feel there should be an oath sworn by every politian before induction to there public position. " I promise to up hold all laws of my country. I also understand that all situations that arise during my tenure deserve full attention and independant consideration but most of all I UNDERSTAND YOU CAN PLEASE SOME OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME. BUT YOU CAN NEVER PLEASE ALL OF THE PEOPLE. So I WILL WORK AT PLEASING MYSELF SINCE I WAS ELECTED TO REPRESENT THE PEOPLE. AN I WILL USE MY MORAL JUDGEMENT IN VIEWING THE WORLD TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITIES. THIS IS ALL I CAN ASK OF MYSELF AND THIS IS ALL THAT SHOULD BE EXPECTED OF ME BY THE ONES WHO ELECTED ME... IN HIM I TRUST.

Thanx Russell! I just read about the silent second veto W put on the s-chip and am getting ready to blog about...W. He is making me really mad right now. I dont go back to work till the 15th, so....I still have time on my hands.

Mouthpeace....we need many common joes in public service and decision making on behalf of the people. I'll tell you what. I wish I had the magnetism and avatar and I would run to be one of those common joes. But, being the common joe would be probably the toughest thing you'll ever had to do to because it would alienate you from the rest of the crowd. We need at least 2 common joes that represent each district in the union and county and local government and that would be a start.

Great blog article and interesting commentary. Given the views expressed, its almost surprising that there is no mention of the only true defender of the Constitution in the Presidential race, Ron Paul (R-Tx). Ron's 30+ year record in the Congress and in public life has shown him to be consistently principled and a great promoter of Constitutional government. The problems of today are caused by over-reaching government power and the corruption that inevitably follows, whether we're talking about taxation, military adventures, or road building contracts. The answer to our problems is FREEDOM and the CONSTITUTION - the Revolution begins now, with supporting Ron Paul for President!

Oh, and I forgot to comment on the political insight of military personnel. I think it's very true, and that its a natural function of A) the average joe's sincerity when taking that oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC, and B) the keen interest one would naturally have in the thing one has pledged one's life to defend! The average civilan cares a lot more about their sports team than about their country, I'd ashamed to say.

Thomas Paine......thank you for the web site link to Ron Paul's website. Ron Paul is definately a great american and I would vote for him. At this point, I'm trying to become a campaign aide to Allen Buckley who is a libertarian running against Saxby Chambliss. If you have a way for me to achieve this, please let me know.

I've heard Boortz mention this on many occasions... His idea is that in order for any member of Congress to vote on any spending bill, they would have to express through a written statement that the money spent on the bill would be better served by the government than it would be in the hands of the private citizens.

Imagine if politicians actually came out and admitted this to the people! Imagine if they said that they know better how to spend our own money than we do! If this didn't promote more fiscal responsibility, then it might actually get more sorry incumbents voted out of office.

I'm a veteran of the Army and a die hard libertarian. I am really tired to see the moral fabric of this country being torn to shreds by blow hard elitists who make careers out of going to Washington suppossedly for the people. I have an interest in all things history and politics. I live in Acworth with my wife Simone, who is from Brazil. We've been married 2 years and plan to be married many more.
