Good Morning,
I was watching the Beth Galvin Special on the two young girls with Juvenile Arthritis this morning Sunday August 3rd and all I kept thinking about was that there Dr. is missing something. Lyme disease is often known as the Great Immitator and arthritis is one of the things it resembles. Believe me I know there are some days I cannot walk.
For that poor young girl to have to g through a hip replacment that young seems insane to me!!!!! That is very avasive.
When I orignally got sick I went through about 10 Dr's here in the South and not one of them ever thought to test me for Lyme Disease!!!!! I finally did some research on my own because the pain kept getting worse and I could not believe they could not come up with what was wrong with me besides Multiple Sclerosis in the early stages but all the testing was coming up negative for MS. It kept getting more and more difficult for me to function, move, drive, the fatigue was awful, knees, ankles, hips, wrists and hands are just riddled with pain!!!! It feels just like arthritis!!!
I cannot help but think that there may be an underlying issue here with these two girls because there's came about later on in the early years at the age of 5 and I forget the other one!
Lyme Disease is becoming more and more common in the south. Since I have been diagnosed and started treating I have met many people in GA with this disease! Believe me that the Deer ticks are here!!
My parents live in Lake Windward in Alpharetta and there were two children on there street that got the disease by jumping in a pile of leaves in there back yard, YES here in Alpharetta!!!! On my parents street at one time there were 5 people wtht the disease. One gentleman got it huntung for Eric Robert Rudolph in the North GA Mountains and North Carolina area. He has been severly ill for years!!!!
This is the second fastest growing infectious disease behind aids!!!!! This is becoming a huge issue here in the the South and people are being grossly misdiagnosed!!!! They are being dignosed form everything from MS, to Pakinsons, to ALS to Lupus to Arthritis especially in the children!! This disease can effect the children and the elderly very severly!!!!
There is a new documentary that just came out called "Under Our Skin" It is an excellent documentary on Lyme and the coinfections that go along with it! It is very compelling and helps shed a ton of light on this horrible disease! How insurance handles it and how grossly mis-diagnosed it is. I suggest anyone reading this post to search this title and you will be able to view the trailer on YOU TUBE!!!!
Normally in about 50% of the cases there is no signature rash and even if there is one Dr's in the South are not familiar wiht it! That was a comment that the Dr. from Emory who is treating the girls mentioned that there are sometimes a rash. Last time I checked Juvenile Arthritis does not come witha rash!
The ticks in the Larva stage can be the size if a poppyseed!!!! We can very easily miss this! They are most oftenly missed or ovelooked as either a skin tag or a freckle!!!!
I woudl really love to know how to either get a hold of Beth Galvin or the young girls parents to just discuss these issues with them before they take such drastic measures to replace the poor girls hips!!!
The testing for this disease is also very indefinitive and most of the time not accurate unlessw you catch the tick bite with in the first 30 days!!!! If you missed that window it then goes into Stage 2 and rapidly it starts penetrating throughout your body, tissues, organs, bone and your brain! It can be a very devastaing disease if not treted properly!!
There are over 70 symptoms that can accompany this disease and they vary greatly!!!!!
If anyone has any information or if the parents of these children may be readin this please respond!
I greatly appreicate anyone's help with this specialo report by BETH GALVIN!!!!
Sincerely,
Onmyway

I have been chronically ill with Lyme Diseas and have also been a very big advocate in the Lyme Community!! I am 35 years old married and we are unfortunatley unable to have children until I can get my illness under control! I have a picc line in my arm and have been diagnosed with LYME DISEASE, Bartonell and Babesia which are other tick born coinfections!! They were transmitted along with the lYME DISEASE upon the bite which I never saw a tick or the RASH!!!!!! I am being treated by a LLMD in NYC which I travel up to NYC every three months to seehim. I also see a pain specialist for all of the crippling arthritis like pain and I have an Infectious Disease Dr. here local that maintains my Picc Line and monitors my blood counts!!! I fell severly ill two years ago and it has been a battle ever since then!
