Yes, I believe that life did exist on the planet, Mares. There is strong evidence to support the idea that a disastrous civilization transition has occurred. This means that a type 0 civilization (our current civilization) had once existed on Mars. When the civilization transitioned into a Type 1 civilization the planet was destroyed. The transition from a Type 0 to a Type 1 civilization is not a peaceful one however, it can be. During the transition, WWIII can break out and there would be no survivors as a result of a full nuclear war. Or, the transition can be peaceful and our problems can be negotiated through the United Nations. You may be asking what a Type 0 civilization and Type 1 civilization is. A Type 0 civilization is currently what we are. We use chemical means of propulsion and we are not masters of out own planet. In a Type 1 civilization, the planet is controlled; this includes the weather, earthquakes, volcanoes etc. So in essence they are masters of their own planet. A Type 0 civilization is one that may have the power to affect the weather and other natural occurrences but cannot control it. A Type 0 civilization also does not facilitate chemical means of propulsion but rather fission, fusion, aim engine or, nuclear propulsion.
