Just read a story about Sgt. Merlin in National News, a marine that had over 97 percent burns over his body and recently passed because of complications of multiple surgeries, to correct the problems of being so servely burned.

Let me say to the family that  Sgt. Merlin was a soul that loved his Country,Family and little children so much that he kept the fight going to stay with us all on this earth, and post-poned his stay with our  Lord Jesus Christ in heaven . To go and start a charity for burned children, which he wanted as little suffering as possible, for the little patriots he has been fighting for. He also made sure we all understood , that the body is merely the casing of our hearts and soul ,for all this love and strength comes from within our beings,blessed and given to us by the giver of life God Almighty.

So remember you all, that Our Father God Almighty creator of heaven and earth, has embraced Sgt. Merlin himself ,with a consuming healing rejuvanating, love and eternal strength, that makes Sgt. Merlin evermore the defender and protector he  was here on Earth, more so in heaven. Sgt. Merlin stands with the protecting Angels himself. No doubt.

I thank God for Sgt. Merlin and all those veterans that have lived and died for our freedom liberty and justice for without these special souls on earth to help and protect we are pray to relentless evil that plagues us through history.

Thank you Sgt. Merlin

Sincerly,always

Hey Santa's Elf! You really are a stunted runt ! Your consolations for a war casuality really come up short as fully developed human compassion.

Stanta's Elf, Yes it is bad what is happening in Iraq, yet it is important to make a stand, granted we are long over due to come home. But let me remind you that this blog is about paying a tribute to a man and his family, and what courage this person had, and giving love and affection where needed, not a place for you to express what you think risk are. For the risk was taken lived and died for And it looks like you have know preception of what it takes to be a person of this calibur, or do you. If so let us all see in the blog comm. what Elf truely is, not the joker you pretend to be. Sincerely gabrielseal7,And never play yourself off of someone elses death.

OK Santa's Elf...so you stuck your neck out on this blog, now consider your head chopped off.
An apology would be in order...if you have any character.

My sympathy is for Sgt Merlin's family and I'm greatful for their sacrifice and Sgt. Merlin's noble service,who unselfishly gave of himself even for 'S'sELF !

(Yesterday, my 2yr old G.son was burned in a kitchen accident and underwent a skin graft).

Dear goneforgood, sorry to hear about your grandchild, hope he or she is doing well after the graft. I'm sure the good Lord will help you take care of the baby and comfort the child during this time of pain. I have no children and can not even come close on how you are feeling. But let me say that i know from your strength in your duty and passion on these blogs, there is no doubt in my mind that the baby will feel better, safe and loved in your arms. Take Care, Sincerely,gabrielseal7

P.S. goneforgood, just think and Sgt. Merlin started a organization, for burned children for family to have travel exspenses to be paid and other funds, during the whole time of his personal suffering, what a Hero, God sent for the Children. gabrielseal7

NOBODY in Iraq is fighting for my freedom ..the fight for my freedom was called the Revolutionary War and it happened 200+ years ago...the idea that soldiers are fighting in Iraq for Americans freedom is totally bogus & used by politicians to pump up patriotism in those who will buy it & hopefully support this BLEEP war

Well it would have been nice if the Merlin family might have read this blog and received some consolation reading some sympathetic posts paying tribute to a heroic American .
But you, Santa's Elf, have managed to rub salt in the wounds of any bereaved family who might be reading here. Such a selfish inconsiderate act reminds me of the kind of people who used to go out of their way to spit on vets returning from Viet Nam. Those war weary soldiers were tormented for decades trying to understand why they deserved that kind of behavior from another American.

You sum it up very well goneforgood, and as far as Santas Elf ,misary loves company, and it is evident this is the only way he recieves company. So we have to pray for these souls as well, that they will see the true light before, the Grim Reeper comes and their sorrowful life flashes before them in such a dim array, that they no who they will be seeing next. gabrielseal7

WW2 i can see as fighting for freedom, everybody seemed to agree with that, Korean war, maybe so but the Chinese were threatened with us so close to their border, Vietnam another useless war & we go over there as tourists, everything is OK now, Iraq a gold mine for profiteers esp Halliburton, i would not risk a scratch to fight in Iraq

You also have to remember we have a volunteer military now, lots of poor bastards were forced into fighting in Vietnam

S_elf;
You are severly missing the point. It did'nt matter that VietNam was vain or even that Iraq may very well be also ! The point is; 'Nam vets or Iraq vets serve(d) their country, suffered & died for it - they did their duty as soldiers !
Therefore they deserve respect, and consideration & acknowledgment of their sacrifices. How would you feel if you had lost a close relative and someone at the funeral said "how horrible and their life's efforts were all for nothing" ? ? ? For that matter, how would your Mom feel if you just died and someone said to her; " Your son's life was for nothing" ! I don't think your mom would swell up with pride and say "Thanks, how very true and nice of you to say so." Fact is,
your life when it's over, will probably be all about and for nothing... 0

EVERYONE;
You may have heard it said; "God has a purpose for everyone's life"!
The first purpose of everyones life is;
#1.)To look at creation and realize that there is a GOD.(The Earth & Heavens are all the evidence anyone needs-not to suggest there are not more).
The 2nd purpose is;
#2.)You then endeavor to find and become personally acquainted with the GOD of all creation.
The 3rd purpose is;
#3.) You then live to the best of your ability
a life that demonstrates you have fulfilled the first two purposes.

Now, I would suggest that Sgt Merlin's life fulfilled God's 3 main purposes and more !
