ok.. have you guys heard this speculation? that maybe john mccain might pledge not to run for a second term in office?  it's interesting. do you think you would be more likely to vote for him if he promised just one term? and who do you think his v.p. nominee might be with that in mind??

or i'll just plain ask... do you think that's a good idea?

Unless you have overwhelming support in Congress, I don't see a one-term president getting much done. I used to like McCain, but he is taking campaign tactics from the Karl Rove playbook. These are things that were done to him when he ran in the primaries against Bush. He didn't like them then, but he endorses them now.

You know I don't have any idea who he might pick for his VP choice, just as I don't for Obama.

I wouldn't vote for him for 1 DAY--for dogcatcher--
Neither are worth the time it takes to vote.
Neither will do anything, but escalate our problems!
Just my opinion!

Andrea, I will vote for McCain regardless if he only stays one term or not because I will not vote for Hussein Obama if he were the only candidate! I would write in Bugs Bunny!

I believe McCains VP running mate will be the man of Indian decent! I went blank on his name! Maybe you should volunteer! I already have Melissa Wilson in my camp so she can't abandon me now!

Tom why don't we go out, find and beat up every one whose father gave them names we don't like? Keep trying to paint Obama as some sort of muslim "Manchurian Candidate." It's not working baby.

I am reminded of McCain when I read about Edwards.
As with most young men, he joined the war NOT to be patriotic, but for a education & the benefits! It is a gamble that most win at, but some lose. He was unlucky & was captured, spent time in a POW camp--(part of the gamble!)
He came home to a wife who had waited YEARS on him, was quickly seduced by his father-in-law to be a legislative pawn, & then when a pretty face came by, He kicked his sick wife to the curb! Now he "smilingly panders the vote"--?
People like this make me sick!
They have NO backbone--NO talent--just pander their way through life--?
IF--a person has "special talents" IS "smart"--I can overlook their indescretions to get the job done!
IF--they have never done anything on their own, have bad opinions on how to rectify situations, WHY should I "hire them to lead"?

Unfortunately, Obama is no better in that neither has a clue what this Country needs, & neither has acomplished anything!
(Kind of like hiring a skyscraper laborer to build a skyscaper?)

When a candidate steps up--acknowledges that:
Legislative lobbying--
Constitutional revision addressing Illegal immigration--
Bringing home the troops--
Staying out of mideast affairs--
Address the oil price situation--
are the PRIMARY objectives that face us--I will be enthused!
Just some thoughts--?

Andrea,

McCain turns 72 on Aug. 29.

If McCain wins, he would be the oldest person ever inaugurated to a first term as president. Ronald Reagan was 69 when he took office for his first term in 1981.

I don't think McCain could handle two terms, because of his age and the stress that goes with the presidency.

The talk that he may only serve one term if elected certainly will chase some voters into the Democratic column and cause some voters to stay home, rather than vote.

McCain should get out in front of this issue by stating he is seeking the presidency and that it would be presumptuous of him to talk about his intentions regarding a second term, since he has not been elected president.

If he does not put this issue to bed this week, the damage to his campaign could be significant.

I don't believe his pledge to run for one term will make difference either way in the grand scheme of things...I do not believe this will impact anybody's decision.

As far as VP, I'm still liking Mitt Romney but if that doesn't happen, I wouldn't be upset if he picked Governor Tom Pawlenty from Minnesota or Governor Sarah Palin from Alaska.

I don't think McCain will pick Romney. Sadly, the Evangelicals will never support a Mormon.

Come now Dread, I just want everyone to remember his complete name! I'm not violent unless I'm pushed! I do believe Andrea would make a good vp candidate! Besides if you knew my name you would do the same!

I wouldn't be any fun going out! I can't drink due to all the meds I need just to keep moving! I guess I could get you into trouble by stirring up people! Maybe I could bail you out cause I fight to win plus I'm old and no longer scared of anybody! I'm going to have to come to the next picnic!

I've noting against "Mitt Romney" I'm saddened that many Evangelicals have said that they couldn't vote for a Mormon. Andreas too pretty to be in politics. And Tom you're not using his entire name just his middle name.

thanks for the nice compliments tom and dread. although over the years i've developed more of an interest in politics and public policy... i'm too plain speaking, brutally honest, and the media would have a field day with some of the things i might say.

Yah, you have a sense of humor!

Dread, Where I see (& respect) your loyalty for Obama, I also know you as a "pretty level headed guy"! I don't REALLY think that ANYONE who has a brain, could vote for either McCain OR Obama! Neither has addressed the problems we face!
One example is the ILLEGAL immigrant situation.
Most Americans KNOW we need to address this issue. Both candidates are "PANDERING" for the mexican vote--?
If you will sacrifice your principles for a vote, you are NOT a good candidate--
IF--you have certain principles, & pander their vote "just to win"--you are being dishonest-?

Tom, Where I agree that one should die for their beliefs, I have found that in this diverse society, you may be called on to do just that!--? Being old may limit your "party" potential, but if someone loves you & respects you, it should not be a problem, maybe?

Andrea,
I certainly respect you & your beliefs--You & Randy Wallace are my 2 favorite people at Fox!
I love your "--too plain & brutally honest" assessment of your personality!
Being brutally honest "can be a detriment" as some will "rake you over the coals" as some have found out!
You will always have those that will take what you say out of context, or consider it a "personal attack"!

"Chassan" with all their faults, is very good at controlling their responses--

If I were to tell someone who weighed 250#'s that "they have a sale on pup tents at Acadamy", they would probably respond VERY negatively--instead of saying "You are right--I will work on that! I am sure you have YOUR demons to deal with!"

Acting professionally is very hard sometimes I would think, as we all have our opinions--?
Retalliation is not always the best response?
Love you girl--keep up the good work!

Andrea, you would make a great candidate! Being able to tell it like it is works for me! We need someone who isn't afraid to speak out plus you are at least a billion times better to look at than either of the other two candidates! Maybe instead of having me as her presidential running mate Melissa should have you! I told her before that two very smart women can do the jobs of way more than two men!

I like to say it like it is as well but my way is not using very good diplomacy! I always tell people you may not like what I say but you will da** sure understand what I said! Plus I can care less who I make mad!

Tom,
It is sad that we don't have people like you in congress, but that is life, I guess!
Too few of us left, & nobody appreciates your experience!
Someone once said "There is no better teacher than experience", but I guess We all have to learn that the hard way!

You beat your head against the wall, finally figure out a solution, & others want to go the head beating route again--?
Oh, well-- good to hear from you!

OBAMA 08 !!!

NOBAMA08! McCain gets my vote. I thought we were not suppose to discriminate on age, race, etc. You are discriminating regarding McCain's age. Would you like it if you someone would not hire you because of your age or color? I did not think so. Face it, when we all get older, and social security is no longer available, you are going to need a job or a hefty 401k to survive.

McCain's wife has so much class and I find her admirable. They have a Family Foundation for children's causes. She's active with 'Halo Trust' - to clear land mines, provide water and food in war ravaged and developing countries. She is part of an overseas mission of 'Operation Smile', a charity for corrective surgery on children's faces. We all know the wives behind the candidates have much to offer for America, too. I am not so sure about Obama's wife, I do not care for her. As far as a running mate for McCain, I would prefer Romney, but doubtful he will be choosen. If McCain is elected, I believe he will run a second term as most do. If Obama is elected, I believe one term is all he will serve. People vote with their pocketbook. Personally, I hoped Hillary would be the nominee, it would have been a lot more interesting election.

I love the smell of fresh smelling political baloney in the morning!

McCain for one term unless he gets a second term and the Black politician (from Oklahoma who works with GOPAC) for a VP. That way if Mc can't finish, then we get the best man for the job anyway.
