i'm here on the scene of a horrible stabbing. according to police 3 men busted into an apartment where one of the men had an ex-girlfriend. this is at about 2am. the men allegedly tried to beat up the woman when 2 neighbors heard the screams and came to help. Then there's a huge knife fight. all 5 men get injured... but the two men who came to protect the 2 women and estimated 12 children in the apartment, ended up dying. (one died at the scene and we're told by the apartment manager, the 2nd man died at the hospital.)

detectives have found the three suspect. two were hurt pretty badly and i don't know their condition yet... or if they've been charged... but...

what would you do if you were the neighbors in this situation? they saved the women and children from serious injury (or worse), but they gave their lives. how quick would you be to intervene if you heard something like this going on?

That type of scenario was played out at an apartment complex I used to live in. I did go and intervene, but I had a gun on me just in case a knife fight broke out. Luckily, the perps wanted no truck with an outsider and left the premises without my having to shuck the gat. The girl was pretty shook up, and the "New" boyfriend had some scrapes and bruises from the scuffle with the ex and several of his friends, but none the worse for wear. Could have escalated, and I'm glad it didn't.

An apartment with 12 kids???
Was this a nursery or a ghetto of the usual unwanted illegals.
This should be investigated by the CPA.

well a few of the kids lived there... and at least 2 were there to be cared for while their mom went to work. after that i was told by a relative that the other kids were friends just sleeping over. kids in the apartment were from toddler to 15 years old. the sleepover stuff is pretty "unofficial". it does seem like a lot of kids, but it's plausible that it's a "sleepover party" that just happened to be on a bad night.

There is a law which states so many square foot per person in a habitat.
This sounds similar to our problem where the homeowner was making the mortgage payments by way of a day/night nursery.
It took months to stop the overcrowding and the many vehicles lined up to pick up the kids while blocking the other homeowners entry to the street.

Like Skyder, I'd step in...but only if I had my gun with me, and the idiots SAW it. Usually, that's a 'show stopper'.

12 children in ONE apartment does sound like a daycare facility to me too! (That apartment obviously needs to be thouroughly investigated. It's unfortunate for the 2 heros that died by stepping in to help! My heart & prayers go out to their families.

I would like to say I would intervene but I think it is a case-by-case basis. I would definitely call the police, maybe even knock on the door.

I saw a special on another station about this person who was abducted from their home and how many people could have prevented her death and didn't because they didn't want to get involved, and then also because the police didn't get the information from a dispatcher when one citizen did get involved and followed the car. She was dead within 10 minutes of that call and the police were out looking for her. If we were in a situation, wouldn't we want people to help us? I remember, too, that awful video of a man getting hit by a car on a road and NO ONE going over to help the poor man. I don't think I could live with myself knowing I could have helped, or tried to help and someone died as a result of my nonintervention.

I personally would have gotten involved, like PBMom I would not be able to live with myself not knowing that I didn't try to help. I have been involved in the past not thinking just reacting and lucky for me I didn't get hurt nor the victim. Its a shame how others can't even pick up a phone and call the police. When I saw how everyone just looked at that man who had gotten hit and not one had helped this man. If it would have been them, wouldn't they want someone to help? As far as the children, thats beside the point, its about what happened.

My work as a Houston volunteer led me twice to get involved in assisting another citizen.
Each time I and others received a subpoena to appear in court as a witness.
The courts take their slow time making it a day off work and no free parking. YOU PAY the fee.
Yes, do your duty as a citizen but out of pocket expenses can be a burden and a good reason for people not to get involved.
Time to shake up the courts for a change in the system.

It's called showing your TRUE BLUE.
Ears first then the HEADS.
Your occult followers just stoned to death 16 people.
Well, that's 16 less to go.
