No, the only thing the Government needs to do is allow drilling in ANWR. What you're proposing would be the action taken if there was AN OIL SHORTAGE...there is not a Shortage.
I think it's time to reap the benefits of our military victories..confiscate Iraqi oil.

Ok, let me git up on my stump here. Now we,re paying through the a$$ at the pumps because of U.S.policies & treaties. Let me tell you the U.A.E. is suppose to be an ally of the U.S. and they import more oil than the Saudi's do to us yet they're the first to call for a slowdown in production, note this in Iraq the citizens there pay $1.25 a gal. while the U.S. military pays get this! $3.23 a gallon for Iraqi gas, yup it's true!The fact that we spent lives and billions of $$'s to liberate it seems to have been lost on both the Iraqi & U.S. Administrations. This is part of a timely plot to control consumption vs production = Cha'ching increasing wealth. Hell now the U.S. Gas Goombas's have pickup on the formula. Bush/ Cheney foresaw this comming, and as old gas goombas themselves let it happen because of their stock holdings, and when they leave office they'll be rich,rich rich. But the citizens here will be walking poor,poor, poor.
Solution? trade that gas guzzling' SUV get a Motor scooter or a bike buy a smaller truck/car. public transportation , telecommute more but go to your leader's and scream to make them lower the local gas tax or eliminate altogether. Capping Gas prices would make oil producing countries slowdown their output on purpose, Sanctions could bring us to the brink of disaster....Trippy

Thatlisagirl, Yep we're having to pay more earn less, it's part of what I call the master/slave economy to eliminate the middle class, and make peon's of us. the middle class bares much of the weight of the economic engine's weight thru higher taxation and lower deductions than both the upper class and lower class in our society, Middle class is the support pillar for whenever big Government wants to overspend, Massive cuts in social security benefits still happen even tho the payments increase, Higher property taxes and other forms of taxes are thrown on the backs of the middle class. Hum Didn't we form our own Government to end this burden of over taxation, Pretty soon the middle class as we know will crumble and fragment into part of one class,semi-poverty and then melt into lower below poverty level, And when this happens the great economic engine that fuels America, will spit and sputter to a screeching halt. Such as it is deservings will come to pass for a profit hungry Big government/Big business eventually.Look for more wage reductions & freezes as America becomes more profit hungry in the future......
