  Krystal Velasco and her son.

If you don't watch your weight, you could be charged double for your airline ticket.  That's what happened to Krystal Velasco. The 23 year old mother wasn't charged for her luggage. Instead, a Southwest Airlines gate agent stopped her from boarding a plane-until she bought a second ticket to make up for her own extra weight.

Krystal said she was humiliated in front of her 7 year old son, especially when the ticket agent delayed the plane until she paid the extra fee. She cried openly as she described the ordeal.

Krystal says she's flown Southwest many times before-and never had to pay for an extra seat. She says she would have been happy to pay more-if she would have only known about the fee. Instead, she got through the ticket counter, security screening and waiting at the gate for more than hour without anyone saying a word.

Once on board the plane, Krystal was shocked to see there were plenty of open seats and she was seated next to her son, so she wasn't making any other passengers uncomfortable.

Krystal searched Southwest's website and never found anything about the hefty fee for overweight passengers. And while there are signs explaining just about everything at the Southwest ticket counter, the policy regarding overweight passengers isn't posted anywhere.

A spokesperson for the airline says the policy is on Southwest's website and affects less than 1 percent of their customers.   Still, Krystal says the airline needs to more upfront about the fee, so other overweight passengers don't have to be embarrassed.

Southwest has already offered her a refund. But Krystal says it's not the money -it's the fact that she was treated so badly. She says she'll be flying Frontier from now on.

Is the airline's overweight policy fair?

NOTE FROM FOX 35: This blog was created when the original one was not working for a few days in November. We are not sure whether it will continue working or not, or if it is close to reaching its maximum allowed amount of comments.

Caylee Marie Anthony was first reported missing on July 15, over 30 days after she first disappeared.

Casey Anthony, mother of the missing 3-year-old toddler, says she left Caylee in the care of a babysitter, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez. However, investigators in the case say they haven't been able to determine that this person exists.

Casey was taken into custody on July 16, charged with child neglect, making false statements and obstructing an investigation. Her bond was set at $500,200. She was bonded out by a California bounty hunter on August 21.

On Friday, August 28, she was re-arrested for uttering a forged instrument, fraudulent use of personal information and petit theft. The bounty hunter that first posted her bond rescinded his offer, making it virtually impossible for her to be released on a $503,200 bond with her additional $3,000 bond on new charges.

Orange County officers filed additional check fraud and theft charges, and say they plan to charge Casey with more economic crimes in the future.

Casey was released for a second time Friday, September 5 after an anonymous person or group fronted her bond. She was escorted out of the jail by her attorney, Jose Baez, and two bodyguards.

She was arrested for a third time Monday, September 15 on new check fraud and theft charges. Casey was released shortly after on a $1,250 bond and was again escorted out of jail by her attorney and two bodyguards.

Anthony was arrested Tuesday October 14, 2008 on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and four counts of lying to investigators about the disappearance of her daughter.

On Wednesday October 15, 2008 Casey Anthony made her initial court appearance on charges that she murdered her missing 3-year-old daughter, Caylee. Anthony went before Judge John Jordan, who read the charges against her. Dressed in a blue jail jumpsuit, Anthony made no comment during Wednesday's 90-second hearing. Her attorney, Jose Baez, declined comment afterward. She will be arraigned in about 30 days.

For years kindergarten children at two elementary schools in Claremont California have had the Thanksgiving tradition of dressing up as pilgrims and Native Americans and sharing a feast.

It’s a forty year old district tradition, where kindergartners at two district elementary schools take annual turns dressing up and visiting the other school for a Thanksgiving feast.

But next week when the students meet for the tradition they won’t be wearing their handmade costumes.

The town is divided after the school board, bowing to political correctness according to some, cancelled the event.

The controversy began when a mother of a kindergartener, who also happens to be an English professor at a local college who specializes in Native American literature, wrote a letter to her daughter’s teacher calling the Thanksgiving tradition ‘demeaning’.

"I'm sure you can appreciate the inappropriateness of asking children to dress up like slaves (and kind slave masters), or Jews (and friendly Nazis), or members of any other racial minority group who has struggled in our nation's history,” Michelle Raheja wrote according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

But parents like Kathleen Lucas said her son -- now a first-grader -- still wears the vest and feathered headband he made last year to celebrate the holiday.

"My son was so proud," she said. "In his eyes, he thinks that's what it looks like to be Indian."

According to some of the costume supporters, Raheja and others opposed to the costumes as agenda-driven elitists.

Raheja is "using those children as a political platform for herself and her ideas," Constance Garabedian said as her 5-year-old kindergartner happily practiced a song about Native Americans in the background. "I'm not a professor and I'm not a historian, but I can put the dots together."

The debate is far from over. Some parents plan to send their children to school in costume Tuesday -- doubting that administrators will force them to take them off. The following day, some plan to keep their children home, costing the district attendance funds to punish them for modifying the event.

We want to know…do you think the Pilgrim and Indian party for little kids isn’t appropriate anymore, or is it no big deal?

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Santa Claus may be coming to town, but you won't see him at Florida Gulf Coast University.

The university has banned all holiday decorations (video: MyFoxTampaBay) in public places.

There's no "BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP," no jingle bells, not even a manger or the Star of David.  It is not even December yet, and already some are crying, 'Bah Humbug!'

"It's kind of silly to take something like that away," offered Nicole Tores, a junior at FGCU.

"I think its absurd," added student Collin Llewelyn.  "I think it's going to damage a lot of people's Christmas spirit."

Students and staffers say it's not the Grinch, but the university's own president that stole Christmas.

"It's bad enough we live in Florida and there's no snow to even show that it's Christmas, but the fact that we cannot look around our campus and see that it is Christmas?" senior Kazik Bajda observed.

In a letter to faculty and staff, the university president, Wilson Bradshaw, Ph.D. banned all holiday and seasonal decorations from the school's common areas, citing "legal limitations."

"There is no attempt to suppress the holiday spirit," Dr. Bradshaw told MyFoxTampaBay.  "I think we cannot appear to endorse any one or two or three or any religions as a state agency."

Holiday decorations are still allowed in personal areas, such as residence halls and faculty offices.  However, many students say they like seeing religious and cultural displays on campus. Even the traditional Giving Tree on campus for underprivileged pre-schoolers was re-named -- they're now calling it a "Giving Garden."

The school's popular greeting card contest was cancelled, too.  Instead, they're having an ugly sweater contest.

"I know that it is pretty PC to do what we're doing; at the same time though, everybody wants to feel that seasonal cheer at Christmas time," Bajda continued.

"Its crazy!  It's nothing like what FGCU has stood for before, especially because our mission this year is diversity," said Cassandra Davis of the university's Multi-Cultural Affairs Office.  "It would be better if they embraced every single holiday: Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukah, instead of just making it so neutral, almost like sterilized."

The Staff Advisory Council has already gotten dozens of anonymous complaints.  They're hoping the president will have a change of heart, and so are many of the students.

Dr. Bradshaw says he does want to establish a panel of students and faculty, to come up with suggestions -- for next year.

Think banning Christmas decorations on campus is a bit much?

What about the giving tree becoming a giving garden?

The grocery store is located in downtown Sanford, off West 13th Street.

Right now, we don't know what caused the fire or if anything will remain of the building.

Have you ever been to the store? Do you have any memories you'd like to share about Ideis? We'd like to hear from you on this one.

With the economy on the brink and elections looming, Congress approved an unprecedented $700 billion government bailout of the battered financial industry on Friday and sent it to President Bush for his certain signature. The final vote, 263-171 in the House, capped two weeks of tumult in Congress and on Wall Street, punctuated by daily warnings that the country confronted the gravest economic crisis since the Great Depression if lawmakers failed to act.

What are your thoughts on billions of taxpayer dollars being used to bailout the financial industry?
