My brother lives in Atlanta in a nice Condo- Apartment complex. After he and his wife were getting sick, they soon discovered that the previous resident was busted making and selling meth in the condo. They gave the lease owner 33 days notice and moved to another condo not contaminated. Now of course the old owner wont give the deposit back and wants more rent for the remainder of the lease. Instead of cutting his losses, the owner is getting greedy. Since $950 deposit in in play, I told my brother who works at Boeing to sue in Small Claims court for the Max you can sue.
1.) Is there a entity in Georgia or ATL that advocates for leasing and police's the apartment complexes or leases.
2.) what is the max Dekalb county will let you sue for in Small Claims court.
Any other advise?
