Hey Everyone,

Today I had an early Christmas moment.  I was in the supermarket to pick up some eggs and milk.  As I was waiting on line, a woman behind me with a little girl excused herself and asked if I had any money.  At first, I was a little shocked, not expecting to hear that on a supermarket line, but I looked at her, and said "yes, why?"  She then explained she had no money, only her card to purchase her items, and she didn't have any cash for gas which she needed to get home.  She asked if she could purchase my items on her card, and then have me give her the cash for them.  I only had about 5 dollars worth, so I asked her how much she needed to get home, then I asked if 10 dollars would do?  She said that would be fine, so I gave her the 10 dollars, smiled, and said "Why don't I just give it to you, and you have a very Merry Christmas."  She started to object, and I told her don't worry, just take it.  She then told me she was going to cry, and I could see that she indeed did start to cry as she was thanking me, and I told her it was no big deal and not to cry.  I could see how truly grateful and touched she was by my kindness, and that, in turn, touched me very deeply, so I smiled at her, and at her little girl, and said, "Just consider me your angel for today."  We walked out of the store together, having pleasant conversation, and before we said goodbye, she held out her hand and asked me my name, and when I told her, she gave me hers, which I now forget. = ), but I will always remember her face, and how the gratefulness in her heart shone upon it.  As I got into my car and drove away, I had a nice warm feeling, and I thought that's what it's all about, people helping people, even if it is just a small thing, and hearts touching hearts.  It was truly an early Christmas moment, and it is something I wish would happen more often during the rest of the year.

I hope all of you have wonderful moments this Christmas and many more in the coming new year. = )

Dear Tom:
Good morning. I must say that is truly a wonderful moment. Believe me, the kindness that you show to others, it will be returned back to you. If it makes you feel better, I want you to know that like you, I've never been married, and I don't have any children, either. I hope that you are preparing for the snow. I read your comment on Dari Alexander's blog. I hope that you will have a wonderful time at the Giants game on Sunday. Stay warm, my friend. Have a nice day.

In reading this story, I feel reasonably confident you will neither be visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present nor Christmas Yet to Come, this season!
You truly understand the concept that we must give away what we cannot keep, so we might receive what we cannot lose.
Bravo!

Regardless of the situation, you did something nice for a stranger and that is the right thing to do. Be well and enjoy the rest of the day.

If everyone took the time to help a desperate person or family in their own town, instead of giving to charities that pocket 98% of the donations and claim it as a marketing expense, imagine how great that would be?

I have 3 people with hard-luck pasts that I help out whenever I can. I never donate to charities, (and I always rule-out the possibility of the person being on drugs) because I would rather be sure I am helping people that really need help bad. And that relieved face you see is always priceless!

If you don't know who to help, you can always ask a local church, they usually know who needs food, clothes, and other basics.

Never fall for the people holding homeless signs that are really just too lazy to work. The truly desperate people usually have too much pride to beg like that.

Thanks for the reminder Tom!

Tom,

I am glad to hear there are such nice people in the world.

I get get beyond one thing though(and it not meant to impact on the kindness you displayed): Assuming by her "card" you mean her credit card, couldn't the woman have used her card to purchase gas?

Tom,

Read your bio and noted affection for the Bryan Adams song(and what is was about).

Have you ever heard Crush by Dave Matthews? That is the song for me that deals with the same topic.

I put the lyrics here if you are interested.

"Crazy, how it, feels tonight.
Crazy, how you, make it all alright love.
You crush me, with the, things you do,
I do, for you, anything too oh.
Sitting, smoking, feeling high.
And in this, moment, ah, it feels so right.

Lovely lady, I am at your feet, oh, God I want you so badly.
And I wonder this could tomorrow be so wondrous as you there sleeping.

Lets go, drive til, the morning comes.
And watch the, sunrise, and fill our souls up.
Well drink some, wine til, we get drunk, yes...

Its crazy, Im thinking, just knowing that the world is round.
Im here Im dancing on the ground.
Am I right side up or upside down, and is this real, or am I dreaming?

Lovely lady, let me drink you, please, I wont spill a, drop no, I promise you.
Lying under this spell you cast on me.
Each moment the more, i, love, you. crush me, come on. oh, yes.

Its crazy Im thinking, just knowing that the world is round.
Im here Im dancing on the ground.
Am I right side up or upside down?
Is this real, oh lord, or am I dreaming?

Lovely lady, I will treat you sweetly, adore you, I mean, you crush me.
Oh its times like these when my faith I feel.
I know, how, i, love, you. come on, come on, baby.

Its crazy, Im thinking just as long as youre around.
Im here Ill be dancing on the ground.
Am I right side up or upside down?

Merry,

Here you go.

"To each other we'll be facing
By love we'll beat back the pain we've found
You know
I mean to tell you all the things I've been thinking deep inside
My friend
With each moment the more I love you
Crush me
Come on

Hey All,

I'm always late getting back to these things!

Calmax, Everyone always says that, good things produce good things, good karma comes back, etc., but the fact is, I'm not looking for it, and never will. I just want to help others, and their appreciation is good enough for me. As for marraige and having kids, I never dwelled on it, and it doesn't bother me, so there is really nothing to feel better about, but thanks anyway. Once in awhile, I do think it would be nice to have kids, and if it happened, great, if not, that's ok too. if it is meant to be, it will be. Thanks for the wishes for the Giants game, but we all know how that turned out, huh? It was too freakin cold out there to sit through such a sorry exhibition!

What's up Doc? As always, thanks, and, I hope you are right. Even though I ain't afraid of no ghost, and I played the Ghost of Christmas Past in a school play once, I still don't want to be visited by any ghosts.

Hey Daniel, Also, as always, thanks, and I know you would have done the same thing as me because you are a good man!

Have a great day Calmax, Doc, and Daniel!

Hey Jane,

You are exactly right. It would be great if everyone helped whoever needed it. It would also be great if we could trust the charities to give the money where it should be given, and not keep so much. I understand to run a charity takes money, but do they really need to take so much for themselves? It is a shame that there are so many charities that are scams, so people don't know what's real, so they don't donate, and this truly hurt's the people who really need it. We need to crack down on these lowlifes that use charity as an excuse to steal!

Thank you for that reminder Jane, and have a wonderful day!

Hey SamIam, I thought the same thing, before I gave her the money, but I didn't ask because I thought she wouldn't be asking for the money if she was able to do that. Maybe the card was maxed out, and only had enough for the few things she was buying. It is that time of year when many people max out cards, who knows? As I said, I didn't ask, I just gave. Thanks for the song lyrics, very beautiful. I remember reading your comment on Christina's ever fallen in love post. Very romantic story about how you met your wife. I enjoyed it.

Jeff, First, nice to hear from you. You are truly a good man, and a very good friend! I am sure your dear friend appreciates you very much, and considers you very dear as well. It seems you also do the right thing!

Have a great day Jeff and SamIam!

Hi Shaun = )

It is always good to hear from you. Yeah, I did think it could possibly be a scam, see, us New Jersey people think the same as you New Yorkers, but then I thought 10 dollars isn't going to break me, and looking at her, I also thought she probably wouldn't be asking if she didn't really need it, so I just gave it, and that made me happy. = )

As always, thanks for your smiles, and have a wonderful day Shaun!

I guess I will start by saying I am a Jersey Boy through and through. I was born in Orange, raised in Cedar Grove, and now live in Caldwell. I've traveled throughout Europe, and have been in many other states, and I can honestly say I love this area because we have a little bit of everything, beaches, farmland, forests, historical sites, lakes, mountains, ocean, rivers, and of course the best city in the world close by, New York. I have many interests and have done many things, but in general, I like to enjoy life and everything it teaches me. I believe that our loved ones, family and friends, are the most precious things in life, and I believe we are here on this earth to help other people whenever we can. My main philosophy on life is something the Beatles sang, "And in the end, the love you make is equal to the love you take". It affected me the first time I heard it, and I have kept it in my heart ever since. I love to play the guitar and sing as it is a great way to relax, and I love all kinds of music because it can lift your spirits and renew good memories. One of my most favorite songs is "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman" by Bryan Adams as I feel all men should want to know their special woman in such a close and intimate way. Saying that, I've never been married, not finding the one yet, and I don't have any children, but I love kids, having 3 nephews, and 3 Godchildren, as well as having many friends with kids, and every one of them always brings a smile to my face. I also love animals and have always been fascinated by them, but I am more of a dog person than a cat person.
