The digital revolution is coming this February when television stations will only be broadcast digital signals.  Are you ready?

Here's a helpful link to the government's website on the digital revolution:

I think it is absolutely rediculous! People are going to have to PAY for a digital box or service or a digital box from their service--most of the time monthly!! What about all the people that can't afford this? Too bad-you are no longer allowed to watch tv, the news, nothing!!!
As per the usual--no one has a choice!

I'm ready, so are the cable company AND they're charging extra for us to receive digital broadcast already... It's already costing me $15 more per month to have digital broadcast in the house.

Is this going to change when only digital broadcasts are available?

The reason for all this, at least from what I understand, is the government needs analogue signals for emergency services, etc. So they're forcing broadcasters to make the shift to digital. Problem is, we foot the bill, and that bill couldn't come at a worse time when many are struggling to fill up their tank, they have to run out and spend money on a digital converter. Go figure.

I have dish network and they are already ready. They say that as long as we use their receivers, analog tvs will receive the digital signal from them. I feel sorry for the cable folks.

I'm going back to reading a lot more books I guess. PBS has a link for free digital box coupon and radio shacks just around the corner, so I won't suffer that much, besides with foxnews.com and myfoxatlanta.com, and CTV.com I can stream my TV entertainment.
Maybe Lisagirl will let me tap into her satellite dish for a slight fee. All kidding aside this does make it rough on those whom don't have the bucks to shell out for sure.
Wonder what Ditz thought up this idea. Tom, thanks for the link, yur so kewl ;)....trippy

Like Tom says, most of the cause is by government absorption, reassignment and redistribution of allotted frequencies.

Sadly, they ("they" being the government, the major broadcasters and broadcast spectrum owners), have decided that we, the public should pay for it.

Remember this little slap in the face the next time you vote for even a modest tax increase.

I used to have rabbit ears, with a big antenna attached to the roof, then scientific atlanta came along (now comcast). Now i have high speed cable, don't know how i survived without it. Well i guess if you dont want to get a box, you can always watch dvd's, or log in right?

Tom, you hit the nail on the head.... more money we all have to spend. Will the price leave once we all go to it? I highly doubt it BUT i guess we could hope. LOL Oh yes, i have Comcast so, i'm ready just don't like that i have to spend extra money to have it.

The digital revolution has past its peak already. Cell phone transmissions, photo and video cameras, terrestrial radio (HD), internet service, satellite radio and satellite TV have already made the transition. Of course, none of these has had as much of an impact as this stage.
I think it will come and pass and no one will remember much about it. I am surprised at the amount of coverage it is getting though. It reminds me of the Y2K hype.

I have two of the boxes and you still have to pay some. They should have offered them free since they made the decision to change and try to make everyone get things they can't afford. You have everything going up gas, food, water and all the other bills you should not have to pay for TV to and just to let you know the boxes don't work well at all. Thanks

the ironic thing about the boxes is that they still have to be connected to analog antennas to work so we will still be using analog just converted at our tv sets whats the difference ........
