Let the debate begin over Paris Hilton's release from jail.  Many say she got special treatment because she's Paris Hilton, but they disagree on the meaning of "special."  On one hand, many people think she only served 3 days in jail because she is famous and the average Joe would have spent more time behind bars.  However, her attorney says that in similar cases, when people have turned themseleves in, as Paris did, they actually are immediately given house arrest.  His point is that Paris actually served MORE time because she is Paris Hilton because they wanted to send a message that she wasn't receiving preferential treatment.   What do you think?

God Bless!

I think it is a bunch of crap...Why do they have a special cell for celebrities to begin with...they are no better than anyone else, besides she was on probation for doing the same thing..she need more time in the pokie.

I don't think it is right for famouse or rich people to get special tretment. If you do the crime you should do the time.....

I also thinks it's a bunch of crap! She's nothing but a spoiled brat, and got off WAY easy cause of being a very rich celebrity. It's SO not fair. She will learn nothing from this.

I think Miss Paris broke the law first by the DUI and then by breaking her probation TWICE by driving afterward.

After a reduced sentence from 45 days to 23, she was sentenced by a judge who expressly forbid any type of household montering.

Why is she out now? Because the Sheriff's deptment is sending her on a holiday instead of the prision time she DESERVES. What might make her think twice about drinking and driving before she could have KILLED someone.

This issuse makes me SOOOOOO upset. She broke the law and should be punished just like you or I would be. I guess daddy gave a large monetary gift to the jail.

I certainly understand why celebs get placed in protected cells.. I hate to think of the lawsuit the jail would have on their hands had one of the inmates gotten hold of Paris and 'initiated' her as I'm sure they would.. should she have gone to jail.. no I don't think so.. As Tim mentioned.. others who have cooperated as she did have been placed on house arrest.. that should have sufficed. How many regular people drink drive get a suspended license and then get caught driving again and Don't go to jail..?

According to this.. she was never actually given a breathalizer test to see what (if any) alcohol was in her system.. it was just suspected.. and failed a field sobriety test? Again.. why no blood alcohol levels?

Celebrity Paris Hilton was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Thursday after "driving erratically" and failing a field sobriety test, police said.

She was pulled over in Hollywood about 12:30 a.m.

"She exhibited the symptoms of intoxication," LAPD spokesman Irv Isabella said, reading from a written statement.

By the way, I said "Miss Paris" sarcasticaly.

Paris Hilton should NOT sit there and say she will take her punishment when she gets it reduced from 45 days, to 23 days, serve only 3 days of the sentence, then claim a "rash" to go sit in her posh home that her daddy got for her.

If I would have done the same thing, I'd be in jail for a year and never be able to have a driver's license again. Rash or not, Paris is a spoiled brat to be able to get out of her sentence twice. But that makes sence since she violated her probation twice.

There is a movie quote that expresses my thoughts on my sympathy for "Miss" Hilton.

Major Payne, "You'll get no sympathy from me. You want sympathy, look in the dictionary between 's..t' and 'syphilis' -- that's where you'll find my sympathy."

I don't understand why everyone hates Paris so much? She is no less of a role model than many of the stars/starlettes (of today or decades past) yet she seems to get most of the bad press.. Oh I guess she splits it with Brittany.. but I like her too..
Must be a blond thing ;)

I, in know way, think of Miss Hilton as any kind of role model. What I see is a rich brat who uses her daddy's money to get her famous and out of the right arm of the law.

She should have served her time, not complained and wined her way out of it.

My cousin got a DUI and did not drive for ONE SINGLE DAY of his probation for threat of jail time. Why did Miss Hilton think she should be "special" and drive anytime she felt like it after her DUI? That's UNFAIR.

She received special treatment because she is Paris. When she reports to the judge today, I hope he/she is smart and puts her butt back in jail, where she belongs. Everyone knows we would all have to serve our full time, and not be let free because of a "medical condition" (not eating) Let her starve herself, she is 26, an adult and knows better. She is simply trying to "play" the system. And as of this point she has won. Don't even get me started on Nichole Richie. Her prison answer is given by the end of June. She needs to be behind bars as well. I just don't get it, if you commit a crime, you have to pay your dues and not with $$$$. Here's hoping Paris & Nichole end up where they belong.

I don't understand why they didn't attend to her "medical needs" right there in jail. All jails have at least a nurse on had and the basic equitment needed for an emergenacy.
I, myself spent 10 months in 5 different county jails when I was 18-19. Later my probation got revoked and I got sent up to the big house to do 4 1/2 yrs there.
Just because she is a star she gets speacial treatment. Oh, and I 've even turned myself in on a few occasisions. I never got out early, or had speacial treatment. She is just a spoiled rotten... well ya know what I am fix'en to say.
I have never drove drunk anywhere, even amoung all my charges, because that puts inncocent lives in danager. However miss little blodie does it and she ends up with not much of a lesson learned.

Okay here are my thoughts … of course Paris is not going to spend much time serving her sentence (in jail). Fame and Fortune change the rules … I think that there should be mandatory community service … that benefits the public. Make her Fame work for us. Community Service done at a Rehab Clinic for recovering alcoholics as an example…

Her Famous catch phrase That’s Hot” … Could be used as a Public Service Announcement … “Drinking and Driving” … “NOT HOT!!”

I think doing some of the above would be very impacting to Paris and be of benefit to others.

So does this mean the homecoming parade on Rodeo Drive has been postponed?
Her lawyer needs to send his bill and then shut up. Let Paris serve the full term. She is not even a real celebrity, so this whole thing just says "money talks"

i'm surprised that she even spent one DAY in jail.face it people like the hiltons have their own version of justice,it's always been that way, that's just the way it is.accept it,there's nothing that will/can be done about,so i suggest that anyone upset over this to just move on.it won't ever change,c'mon they're millionaires for crying out loud.that's what makes the world go 'round....money.always has, always will.

Its funny, MSNBC was evidently covering the DOD's decision to replace Peter Pace as Chief of staffs, and interrupted for a 10 minute stint about Paris Hilton going to court.

Now,I know this might seem a little irrational, but don't you think someone in government, specifically someone with power over policy making, and connections to the Iraq War should have more weight to coverage...than a drama queen?

....stupid liberal media....

I am blogging. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner!!! I've wasted soooo much time NOT blogging. Has my life mattered up to this point? Was I anything before I was a blogger? Does the light stay on in the fridge after I close the door? I am so confused!
