This Aint Your Land's Line In The Sand

At a time of galloping unemployment, Pres. Bush had the gall to tell ABC News that one of his biggest disappointments in the White House was his inability to get Americans to quit being so small-minded about keeping U.S. jobs for themselves instead of giving them up to illegal aliens. Will the next Administration be this elitist and this heartless? The jury is out.

As he leaves office as one of the most unpopular Presidents ever, Mr. Bush seemed to be trying to show why in his interview.

On the one hand, he acknowledged that he had been wrong about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and that his biggest disappointment was that he didn't get better military intelligence to act on. 

But then he failed to see the underlying error of his immigration policies.

Instead of admitting that he misjudged the issue, he said another major disappointment was his failure to push through immigration reform.  Although he didn't specifically identify what that reform was, we can be fairly certain he meant the path to citizenship that he began trying to give illegal aliens as soon as he entered office in 2001 and which he pushed through 2007 before he finally got tired of the citizenry rising up in an uproar.

Here's what he told ABC:

I firmly believe that the immigration debate really didn't show the true nature of America as a welcoming society. I fully understand we need to enforce law and enforce borders. But the debate took on a tone that undermined the true greatness of America, which is that we welcome people who want to work hard and support their families.

So, the true greatness of America is not in hard-working Americans and their families?  Apparently, we can only be great if we welcome people from other countries to take our jobs.

Does Mr. Bush feel that any person in the world who wants to work hard to support his/her family ought to be allowed into the U.S.  At heart, he is a reckless Utopian with no touch of reality but whose impractical idealism leads to great suffering. Utopians with their ideological innovations make truly dangerous leaders, as the 20th century more than proved and as this century's first President did as well.

I'd like to see a society (and a federal government) that practices a welcoming spirit to the tens of millions of Americans who do not have a job, or who work for sub-decent wages depressed by labor oversupply.

To rich elitists like Mr. Bush, it may be easy to assume that the country can bring more than 100,000 foreign workers every month (plus their dependents) and allow another 50,000 or so illegal workers to settle each month and not have any effect on people who work for a living.

But more than 10 million Americans who are on the official unemployed list (which means they have looked for a job in the last month) know what an unwelcoming economy is like.

It is the height of hardheartedness to suggest that those unemployed Americans are "unwelcoming" or have a bad "tone" when they object to giving some 7 million illegal foreign workers permanent ownership of U.S. jobs. 

I do believe that Mr. Bush has always had a blind spot when it comes to poor foreign workers. I think he is sincere in wanting to give all of them a chance to be Americans and live an American lifestyle.  But I know that this largesse is also a way for his White House to provide a welcoming society for his big business lobbyist friends who want their flood of foreign labor to hold down all wages.

The 34-year-old, who gave birth to a baby girl on June 29, made the announcement in a television interview with Barbara Walters of ABC News.

After the birth, he told Walters, he did not resume taking male hormones because he and his wife Nancy wanted to have another baby.

The baby was due in early June. He felt good and everything was going well.

"I had my checkups with my hormone level... everything is right on track," he said.

Beatie is legally male but was born female and underwent gender reassignment surgery and hormone treatment. He kept his female reproductive organs so he could have a family.

He has been married to his wife for five years and the couple bought sperm from a donor when they decided to start a family.

CBS anchor Katie Couric asked the Democratic presidential nominee, in an excerpt of the interview aired on the CBS Evening News, "You have an aunt who's been living in this country apparently illegally... Would you support her being deported to Kenya?''

"If she is violating laws, those laws have to be obeyed,'' Obama said. "We're a nation of laws.

"Obviously that doesn't lessen my concern for her,'' he added. "I haven't been able to be in touch with her. But I'm a strong believer you have to obey the law.'

The event occurred in Dayton during a stump speech by Sen. Barack Obama, D-IL. Obama blasted the McCain mortgage rescue plan as ‘idiotic.’ He claimed that banks wouldn’t take a loss, but taxpayers would take a loss, and that this was just another shifting position for McCain.

“This is the kind of erratic behavior we’ve been seeing out of Sen. McCain,” added Obama. I don’t think we can afford the kind of leadership that Senator McCain is offering. He is willing to scr e w you and grease the pockets of the white fat cats on Wall Street.”

Obama also urged voters of Dayton to see McCain’s character attacks on him in the context of McCain being a candidate who’s worried that he’s going to lose, and is merely using these desperate attacks to save his failing campaign.

“If one thing is clear,” urged Obama. “Senator McCain must be scared he’ll lose, because all he can do is personally attack me. All I can tell you is if you want to remain in your home, vote for me, and if you want an eviction notice, vote for Senator McCain.”

John and Julie Rondogovich, who were forced to move into John’s mother’s house because of McCain’s failure to act in time, appeared mesmerized as they cheered on Obama.

“Off with McCain’s head,” yelled John Rondogovich. “Off with his HEAD!”

“And if you think that vicious pit bull he has as a running mate, I mean Governor Palin, is looking out for your interest,” continued Obama, “then you’re sorely mistaken. The only thing she’s interested in is taking us back to the days of lynchings and segregation.”

“Lynch her,” yelled Thomas Zeller, a 37-year old black real estate agent from Dayton, OH. “I’ve seen up close what John McCain has done to people!”

“Lynch the cr a c ker,” exclaimed Jerry Spitzer, a 42-year old black unemployed factory worker evicted from his home in Dayton.

“Hell no,” the fevered crowd spewed. “Lynch her!”

With the election drawing near, and the liberal crowds seething with rage, it is only a matter of time before riots break out in the streets, cars are burnt, buildings are bombed and businesses are looted in the name of Senator Barack Obama.

The 61-year-old former football star could spend the rest of his life in prison. Sentencing was set for Dec. 5.

A weary and somber Simpson released a heavy sigh as the charges were read by the clerk in Clark County District Court. He was immediately taken into custody.

The Hall of Fame football star was convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and 10 other charges for gathering up five men a year ago and storming into a room at a hotel-casino, where the group seized several game balls, plaques and photos. Prosecutors said two of the men with him were armed; one of them said Simpson asked him to bring a gun.

The verdict came 13 years to the day after Simpson was cleared of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in Los Angeles in one of the most sensational trials of the 20th century.

"I don't like to use the word payback," defense attorney Yale Galanter said. "I can tell you from the beginning my biggest concern ... was whether or not the jury would be able to separate their very strong feelings about Mr. Simpson and judge him fairly and honestly."

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Monday has unveiled a $5-billion, five-year plan to build housing for the poor (illegal aliens) and middle class. The blueprint, which calls for thousands of new homes along subway and bus lines, and developments with people of all incomes living together, would, according to the mayor’s deputies, alter the look and feel of the city forever.

But the plan, which many City Council members and business and housing groups said they had not yet seen, is being released while the housing market is a shambles, the state is facing a massive budget shortfall and the economy is teetering — challenges that lead some to wonder whether it is feasible.

Mayor Reconquista meets with his boss on a regular basis (President Felipe Calderon - President of Mexico) to discuss the ongoing takeover of America.

“I know that budgets are tight . . . credit is almost nonexistent,” Villaraigosa said Saturday to a room full of community and labor groups pushing for more affordable housing. “But we’re going to reject the cynics . . . and build a brighter future for those kids who are in the corner over there.”

The mayor got a standing ovation at the union hall near downtown Los Angeles, and chants of “Si, se puede” (”Yes, we can”) from the dozens of people in matching red T-shirts in his audience…

…Villaraigosa acknowledged that in the current climate of economic uncertainty, some of the money the city is counting on may not come through, but he said he was confident other sources might open up. Federal dollars may flow to the city because of the foreclosure crisis, for example. He said he “sat down with three economists yesterday” and they assured him the plan was sound.

It’s no coincidence that most of the areas hardest hit by the foreclosure wave – Loudon County, Virginia, California’s Inland Empire, Stockton, San Joaquin Valley, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, for starters — also happen to be some of the nation’s largest illegal alien sanctuaries. Half of the mortgages to Hispanics are subprime (the accursed species of loan to borrowers with the shadiest credit histories). A quarter of all those subprime loans are in default and foreclosure.

Regional reports across the country have decried the subprime meltdown’s impact on illegal immigrant “victims.” A July report showed that in seven of the 10 metro areas with the highest foreclosure rates, Hispanics represented at least one-third of the population; in two of those areas – Merced and Salinas-Monterey, Calif. – Hispanics comprised half the population. The amnesty-promoting National Council of La Raza and its Development Fund have received millions in federal funds to “counsel” their constituents on obtaining mortgages with little to no money down; the group almost succeeded in attaching a $10 million earmark for itself in one of the housing bills past this spring.

For the last five years, I’ve reported on the rapidly expanding illegal alien home loan racket. The top banks clamoring for their handouts as their profits plummet, led by Wachovia and Bank of America, launched aggressive campaigns to woo illegal alien homebuyers. The quasi-governmental Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority jumped in to guarantee home loans to illegal immigrants. The Washington Post noted, almost as an afterthought in a 2005 report: “Hispanics, the nation’s fastest-growing major ethnic or racial group, have been courted aggressively by real estate agents, mortgage brokers and programs for first-time buyers that offer help with closing costs. Ads proclaim: “Sin verificacion de ingresos ! Sin verificacion de documento !” — which loosely translates as, ‘Income tax forms are not required, nor are immigration papers.’”

In addition, fraudsters have engaged in massive house-flipping rings using illegal aliens as straw buyers. Among many examples cited by the FBI: a conspiracy in Las Vegas involving a former Nevada First Residential Mortgage Company branch manager who directed loan officers and processors in the origination of 233 fraudulent Federal Housing Authority loans valued at over $25 million. The defrauders manufactured and submitted false employment and income documentation for borrowers; most were illegal immigrants from Mexico. To date, the FBI reported, “58 loans with a total value of $6.2 million have gone into default, with a loss to the Housing and Urban Development Department of over $1.9 million.”

It’s the tip of the iceberg. Thanks to lax Bush administration-approved policies allowing illegal aliens to use “matricula consular cards” and taxpayer identification numbers to open bank accounts, more forms of mortgage fraud have burgeoned. Moneylenders still have no access to a verification system to check Social Security numbers before approving loans. In an interview about rampant illegal alien home loan fraud, a spokeswoman for the U.S. General Accounting Office told me five years ago:

“[C]onsidering the size of Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston, and other large cities throughout the United States known to be inundated with illegal aliens, I don’t think the federal government is willing to expose this problem for financial reasons as well as for fear of political repercussions.”

Chickens coming home to roost. And law-abiding, responsible taxpayers are going to pay for it.
