You've got to be kidding me!!....as if talking on the cell phone and putting makeup on isn't bad enough, people are now watching movies while they DRIVE???  I've never heard of a more ridiculous idea.  Atlanta traffic is scary as it is...the last thing we need  is for drivers to be getting caught up in TV.    The drunk driver who was going the WRONG way down I-20 last night while watching "Veggietales" in his car is a prime example....his irresponible actions and horrible choices resulted in someone dying.  Let's all remember that when we're behind the wheel, ALL of our attention belongs on the road.

Suchita,

This story would be downright hilarious if it weren't so devestatingly tragic. First of all, you NEVER drive if you plan on drinking. And even if you don't plan on drinking, you makes plans for alternate transportation when you DO drink. If that means you have to leave your car behind and pick it up later, then do it (I have).

And THEN he watching "Veggietales" while he's driving (please tell me that's a joke...)? I'll admit that Veggietales is an engaing program (even for an adult like me: my nieces got me hooked), but not behind the wheel of a car! He must have had a portable DVD player, because front seat players are not supposed to play while that car is in drive.

It amazes me how people can be so completely self-absorbed that they don't take into account the consequences of their actions...

Suchita,

I agree with you 100%. These DVD players should be nowhere near where they can distract a driver. In the back where only the children/passengers can watch would be acceptable. I think the manufacturers should quite installing them anywhere that would distract the driver.

Suchita, FOX 5 Morning News Co-anchor and Good Day Host I've been at FOX 5 and in Atlanta over 5 years and have loved every minute of it! After globetrotting from St. Louis to Chicago, San Francisco, Paris, India and Singapore, I've finally begun to put down roots here in our great city :-) Can't get enough of cool restaurants and funky hangouts....if food is involved, I'm THERE! LOVE trying new cuisines, and learning about different places and cultures :-) My I-pod is loaded with 80's music. Watch out---I'll find any excuse to throw on a pair of legwarmers!
