When Pudge got traded to the Yankees in late July, Detroit Tiger's manager, Jim Leyland, said something like this: 'Pudge won't be the reason we make it to the playoffs, neither will Inge. How our pitching staff does will determine if we make it to the post season'.

That assessment led to the re-acquisition of relief pitcher, Farnsworth, who pitched okay during his first two outings. I look forward to seeing more of Farnsworth doing his thing on the mound. It was nice to hear how he wants to help the team make it to the playoffs.

I don't know if the Tigers are receptive to hearing ideas on how to improve the team from the fans. Yes or no, here's one to help upset the applecart:

Since it has been decided that the pitching staff is the deciding factor to make it to the post season, try something different with them. Rather than begin each game with the starting pitchers, use the relief pitchers first. Start a game with Todd Jones (after he feels better) or Fernando Rodney or Kyle Farnsworth or Fossum (to name a few of the relief talent). Use starters like Verlander or Miner or Rogers or any other starting pitcher to pitch in the late innings. Lets see what happens. The current pitching rotation (who starts, who relieves) is not working.

To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, 'Doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results, is insane'.

Tiger critics, hold your horses.

Galarraga has a slider that has more movement than what a slider hamburger can do to your bowels. Opposing teams are swinging early and often to avoid the wrath of Galarraga's slider.

Tiger players who play offense are taking turns being the hero. (Reminds me of the Red Wings, another team that shares the wealth by having different players being the hero during different games).

Matt Joyce was the hero against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night, 8-19-08. He had two home runs. (#'s 11 and 12). Tigers win 11-3.

Renteria also had a home run on Tuesday night.

The Tigers beat the Rangers on Monday night, too. That game had its own heroes, though, almost squashed by the bullpen. The final score is all that matters.

The Detroit Tigers have yet to fade into the sunset. Keep it going, boys!

I want to stay on the Tiger's bandwagon, but some of their pitching staff is creating quite a barrier to them making it to the post season. They lost two games last week, one against Texas, the other against the Royals. To stay alive, well, you do the math.

I'd like to welcome Tiger pitcher, Chris Lambert, to Detroit. You made your major league debut on Tuesday night against the Cleveland Indians. If there's one thing you could learn while you pitch for the Tigers, maybe it'll be this: The struggle will make you stronger!

Good luck on Labor Day when you and the rest of the team face the Yankees!

My family and I enjoyed going to see the Tigers beat the Royals earlier today. Jim Leyland showed some guts while defending his team when he argued a bad call made by the 3rd base umpire. Inge should've been called safe because the 3rd baseman dropped the ball on the force out. It's managerial character as displayed by Jim Leyland today that means a lot to the fans. Jim Leyland may've been ejected from the game, but in the minds of over 39,700 fans, Jim Leyland was a winner!

There are less than 30 games left to play during the regular season. To have any chance of making post season, the Tigers would need to win every game in September. That may or may not happen, but I'd still like to thank Jim Leyland and the Tigers for playing some hard-fought baseball this year.

As one of your fans, I've seen the effort you've shown during the year. Some fans will judge you by your win-loss record. While that is important, it's not the only measure of being a champion. The team has experienced many struggles all year to which you did not quit. To me, that means a lot. Thanks, guys!

Hi Mark!

I haven't been following the Tigers that much this season because I watched the Olympics, conventions etc.
I say thanks, guys too!
I know that a many people miss Pudge. To be NY Yankee is something truly special. I wrote about that!
Write back on my blog as I want to talk about something.
