Poll results this week continue to show Republican strength in Georgia. A Rasmussen Reports survey of the state gives John McCain 48% to Barack Obama's 39%. Rasmussen has found little change in the race this year, despite an Obama campaign investment in Georgia TV advertising.

The same Rasmussen Reports poll gives good news to Sen. Saxby Chambliss. In another steady showing, the incumbent Republican leads Democratic challenger Vernon Jones 59% to 29%. He also has a double-digit lead over Democrat Jim Martin: 51% to 40%.

Sen. Chambliss's favorable ratings actually improved over the last month. He's now at 61%. The favorable rating for Mr. Jones is 30% and Mr. Martin's is 47%. Messrs. Martin and Jones are in an August 5th runoff for the Democratic Senate nomination.

It's to bad we can't let Georgians decide the November elections than, McCain surely isn't the greatest choice but his experience and support to fight terrorism is, Obama experience and voting record in the senate scare me, and then there is Jim Martin saying were in need of change, I agree lets get rid of Pelosi and Reid that would be a start....

retired,

4-8 more years of the same is why were in the mess were in. Over 70% of US citizens think the country is going in the wrong direction. I don't see the red state of Georgia leading the way to new solutions. Georgia is in the sun belt. Georgia has few energy resources. Why does Georgia rely on the rest of the states to take care of us. Why isn't Georgia the leader in conservation and solar. Our leaders favor coal which pollutes our land. Georgia is short of water. So we support nuclear and coal which uses a lot of water. Do we lead by accepting the nuclear waste in Georgia? No. No real solutions, just same old same old. Why is the state not building bio-fuel plants in GA. We have plenty of wood. Terrorism (Republician strength)is a tool the enemy exploits. They know we will spend our economy into the ground using military spending. Time for a new direction. Energy independance from clean renewables and conservation is our best weapon.
