Did you know the average vegetable travels about 1500 miles before it hits your saute pan or steamer...Wow that little tid bit of info blew me away in an interview last week with Barbara Damrosch the author of the Garden Primer...An interesting book that will help you and your garden.  Its basically a reference guide--step by step info on growing your own veggies.  Veggies that wont need a passport to get into your kitchen.  I mean vegetables are imported from all over the planet and when you really think about it--how much fresher could they be. Considering it could take a week or two to get from the field where it was picked to market and then to your kitchen--who knows how long that whole process takes!  in short if you really want fresh--you might have to learn how to grow your own...
