I've met Jimmy & Rosalyn Carter before.  As our former President and First Lady, I was honored and impressed.  But today, I got a chance to see them as a family.   We were waiting to interview Mr. Carter before a luncheon where she was being honored by the Democratic Women of Georgia.   Rosalyn was running a little late but former President Carter was on time, and sat wating on the side talking to an old friend.  Shortly after Rosalyn arrived and got seated for the interview, Amy Carter and her husband also entered the room.  Mr. Carter gave out a shout "Amy!".  He was so happy to see her, and wanted to know what she'd been up to since arriving in Denver.. what she thought of the events from the night before.. if they sat in the skybox.   Mr. Carter was obviously so pleased to see her.   It was a typical family reunion, for a family we may not think of as typical.

Deidra Dukes's interview with Rosalyn Carter aired at 6pm on Tuesday, Aug 26th, and can be found on this web site.

I am a Republican but couldn't help notice goneforgood's post stating that the media/newspeople are not supposed to be "blue party cheerleaders." I would encourage you to look at LeslieD's earlier blog entitled "And the VP Is..."

She states: "I somehow feel Barack Obama's choice of Sen. Joe Biden for VP is a bit anticlimatic." She also asks the question if Obama's message of "change" will resonate with a 65 year old. 6 term senator at his side...

Not a whole lot of "blue party cheerleading" going on there...

I think Jimmy is a total joke and should NOT be getting the respect that he is getting, when ever he opens his mouth nothing good comes out of it. When I became old enough to vote I voted against him and became a Republician because of Ronald Reagan. Jimmy just needs to sit down and stay out of the limelight and let the cob webs grow!!

Yeah, why doesn't these "news-folks" cover the lawsuit just filed about Obama not really being an American Citizen? PHILADELPHIA - A Lafayette Hill attorney filed a lawsuit in federal court Thursday challenging Sen. Barack Obama's claim to United States citizenship. The action seeks to remove the Democratic candidate from the November ballot.
To be eligible to serve as U.S. president, a person must be born in this country. According to Obama's birth certificate, which his campaign posted on its Internet site in June to quell rumors that he is foreign born, the Illinois senator was born in Hawaii on Aug. 6, 1961.
On Thursday, Philip Berg filed a temporary restraining order in federal court to bar Obama from running for president, claiming the Democratic candidate was actually born in Africa.
"We really don't believe he was born in Hawaii," Berg said. "We think he was born in Kenya."
The presidential candidate's father, Barack Obama Sr., was born and raised in a small village in Kenya, according to Obama's campaign Web site.
Berg's suit claims the senator's grandmother, brother and sister, who live in Kenya, believe they were present during Obama's birth in the African country.
Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, grew up in Kansas, and his parents met at the University of Hawaii when Dunham was a student there, according to the Obama campaign.
Eventually, Obama's father returned to Kenya, and his son grew up in Hawaii with his mother and for a few years in Indonesia after Dunham married an Indonesian man, Lolo Soetoro. Also, Obama lived with his maternal grandparents in Hawa

I Missed that earlier blog Stripes.
There is alot more scrutiny & analysis needed of Biden & Obama when they speak... then just subjective impressions. Like comparing their
speeches with their voting records or what they've said before. That takes research.
The media in general has done a poor job during this election...the fluffy coverage and bias is rampant - people are getting fed up with it. I think the news media should do some serious selfexamination of their methods.
Leslie maynot be a 'cheerleader' but this Carter 'story'blog is void of any substance. Especially, since Jimmy has declared that if Obama loses by more than 3 percentage points, then that means people voted against him because of race!!!!

Yes we all remember JC. What an inspriation! In the midst of the 2nd oil crisis, he tells us to put on a sweater and drive 55. As a result of his policies, the 18% mortgages ran into the early Reagan years. JC was the WORST president of the 20th century.
