Latest info. looks pretty good for us with regards to Gustav. The high pressure that is sitting over Florida is pretty well established and will not be giving way to Gustav.  Instead, Gustav will go around our high...and should scoot into the Gulf this weekend.  Big question will be the upcoming cold front that may sweep up
Gustav early next week and could accellerate him towards the northern...possibly northeastern Gulf.  If the front is strong enough...and our high pressure weakens enough on the western periphery...then it could head up towards Mobile and bring some minimal impact to us?  Should be a fun one to watch..and see how the computer models adjust each day.

Now we've got Hanna hanging around! Looks like Hanna is moving away from that upper level low that is just to the west of Hanna. That low was ejecting some wind shear on Hanna...and kept her weak during the day. Now it should ramp up and intensify into a hurricane. Computer models really spread apart in the coming days. Big question for me is how strong will an upcoming cold front be? Also, how strong will the high pressure center be that develops behind the front and possibly block the northward movement of Hanna early next week. If the high pressure builds in strong enough...then expect Hanna to move toward Florida as it gets caught up in an easterly flow on the south side of the ridge. Oh yeah, we still have Gustav coming into the Gulf this weekend and still has its sights set on Louisiana or somewhere along the north Gulf coast. Will be a fun week next week!

A little off subject, but why does the Weather association name the storms these weird names? I mean names like Charlie are pretty common, but does anyone know a Gustav.

I'm only hoping Hanna doesn't turn into something too big.

Glenn, I have heard that back in the day storms didn't get named until they reached hurricane status, Now they are named when they make tropical storm status, Besides the obvious fact that it makes it look like we have more named storms now than we did in the past, which technically we do if you don't know the stats on how they used to be named, Why the change in the naming of storms?

Don't mess with my forecasts!! It's been an excting ride here in Central Florida in our wild world of weather. It's started with the storm of the century in 1993 and continues today.....
