My Fellow Houstonians:

Greetings!  Been a while since I've had posted a blog on here.  Everynow and then I'll jump in on the live webchat to say hello and make a few comments on what's going on in the news or weather; nevertheless, had the privilege of attending the Kenny Chesney Poets & Pirates Tour 2008 at Reliant last night.  Granted, we didn't make it there on time but that was pretty much expected.  I just wanted to make a few comments on  what I would like to call the "Cheers & Jeers" of the tour.    First of all, CHEERS to Kenny Chesney, he delivered as expected.  The special effects of his performance was top notch with clips of some of his music videos to accompany the song(s) that he was singing to.  He did however "mess up" on his song Big Star when he started off singing the second verse to his song and looked back to his band and made a comment about not knowing which verse he was.  Most of the people there were either too drunk or just didn't care to notice.  He did bounce back and finished the song successfully.

Keith Urban delivered an excellent performance; however, to get off the stage and stand there in the midst of the crowd near the stage and let people put their hands(mostly women, I think, LOL!  Was in Section 137 so couldn't really see exactly what was going on that the big screen couldn't catch.) all over him.  I felt more sorry for security than I did him.  On the big screen, you could see people using their camera phones to get an up close and personal picture of Keith Urban.  I just thought that was a little egotistical; nevertheless, he delivered a great performance.

Leanne Rhimes, the proudly admitted "Texas girl from Dallas but yet a Houston Texans fan" breaking out the Winston #73 jersey later on during her performance, was an exceptional performance.  I just think she talked more than she sang if you want my personal opinion.  Most of you will recall how she got her big break in the music industry when she first appeared on Star Search w/Ed McMahon at the age of 15(I believe that's how old she was when she first appeared on SS).

Gary Allen was a good performer.  I just don't understand how people get all excited when he would take a Jack Daniels "shot break" during verses of some of the songs that he was singing on the two screens on each side of the stage.  I guess it was all a part of his performance.

There was an incident where three girls got into a fight right there on the stairwell but hey, that's pretty much what you get when you mix music w/alcohol and jealousy.
and of course there were the "Naked Cowboys Wannabe" that were displaying their Alcohol Machoism.  Of course, they didn't completely strip down to the buff, Thank God!

Anyway, those were some of my highlights from the concert last night.  Would love to hear from anyone else that attended the concert that would like to share their comments on how you think the artists performed.

Row 137? so sorry dude. I don't know if I should tell you this or not. I had a full access pass. The bass player and Steel player that I drum with were in the warm up band and I was lucky enough to get the run of the place and Dinner. You are right. They all rocked the house. My ears are still bleeding.

Glad you had an awesome time. I would've given anything to have that kind of access; however, it was a last minute deal where someone had an extra ticket so I was grateful to be able to go and to be able to have the seat that was given to me.

Glad you got to go. It was a great show. We had sound check at 1:00 pm so it was a long day but what a great time.

Saw Keith Urban twice...during his Golden Road tour (it was my daughters first concert) and then again, a few months later at the Rodeo. He puts on a great show.

Kenny Chesney has always been a favorite..and I see him going the Jimmy Buffet route music wise. Would be pretty smart..Jimmy Buffet hasn't had a radio hit in years but still sells out concerts in minutes. Kenny's been heading there slowly but surely these last few albums.

And yeah, you get alcohol and country music there's gonna be a ruckus. Kind of like hip hop, weapons and drugs... heavy metal and BOTH booze and drugs...alcohol and sports events.. not just a country thing, you know. Shoot, I remember seeing Guns N Roses, and they had a camera showing the guys running backstage to shoot some booze AND do some lines. Nothing new.
