My fellow Houstonians:

Greetiongs.  Think this is the 5th post that I have created this evening.  I was just listening to some old country this evening as I replied to some posts that I blogged about earlier and in the process, I was listening to some old classic country.  Is it me or just the idea that classic country is fading away?  A lot of the music that was written back then had meaning to it versus todays music hits.  Do you think that modern music has lost it's true meaning or is it just a way of most new music artists saying "Hey, this is a sample of my music, take it or leave it?" and the fact that they are starving for ratings or attention?

Thank You.

GDub.

Have you listened to Josh Turner, Faith Hill, or the new one on the charts by Trace Adkins? There are many more of them, in additon to these artist that have some great songs with nice lyrics out.

It seems like most of the music out today revolves around a great chorus or "Hook" but there's still plenty songs out there that tell a good story. They're just few and far between.

Good, classic country is indeed dead. There is only pop star failures in the so-called country scene now. I know Johnny cash and the boys are rolling over in their graves listening to these "cowboys" play themselves off as the new country. They are teaming with rappers for crying out loud. The music is played out and has no meaning...no one knows country anymore...sad...very very sad.

I have to agree with you. There are great songs out there, but most of them don't tell the story like the songs of yesteryears Country. Really think the legendary voices we have been accustomed to hearing, also had great writers. I'm sure many of them have passed away and I keep thinking that is what is missing in today's music. Great songwriting ability.
