My Fellow Houstonians:

Greetings.   For those of you who are politically oriented minded, please disregard your thoughts.  It has been supposedly proven that propane has been  recommended over charcoal when it comes to grilling.  Supposedly, charcoal's the reason for acute cancer when it comes to grilling versus propane due to the fact that     propane is considered a natural gas and is considered healthy for u s when it comes to grliling.

Thank You.

Mesquite is good but I like the old fashioned charcoal cooking!

Sorry, my pit has a good sized fire box so I cook with mostly Oak then throw in a little Hickory, Pecan or Mesquite for a little flavor. It's a hell-of-a-lot better than all of the artificial flavors!!!

Have to agree... I use charcoal over propane anytime. Just like the flavor better. So Geedub... where did you hear that charcoal causes "acute cancer", and what type?

To quote Wynona Judd: " I was raised with charcoal. I'll DIE with charcoal! So BACKOFF!"

I've got it! GeeDubya3 is a pen name for Hank Hill. He is trying to make propane the number one outdoor cooking favorite by trying to scare people!

Gimme CHARCOAL and mesquite any day of the week. I was at a friend's where he cooked on his gas grill once, it was awful!

I'm sorry. I still have to vote real wood. Maybe it's in my heritage to cut up and use whatever limb has fallen recently in the last storm or maybe I just don't like the over-processed, reconstituted sawdust and coal that are pressed into nice little "Briquettes". OR, maybe I just like the added NATURAL flavor from REAL wood. But I guess on the majority of the cute little "Grills" that are sold, using real wood would be rather impractical.

45ACP,

I know you just didn't go there with my name, LOL! Trust me, Im a man of true wood when it comes to my smoking chicken, ribs, sausage, etc and good old charcoal when it comes to a fine marinated T-bone or Ribeye steak.

I think I can safely say this without being flagged for "borderline grotesque" but Gas.........gives me Gas! LOL!

Native_American, Good Call!

Gald you took my comment in the good nature it was intended!

Sometimes people get a bit nit-pickey on these blogs, I just wanted to lighten it up a touch.

For me... Charcoal for consistant heat, mesquite for smoke & flavor!!!

Trust me, 45ACP, I get ragged all the time about my surname, not here at least but by my peers. Funny thing is, the other day, I was out w/some friends and one of them asked me, "Hey GDub, when Bush leaves the Oval, what are you going to call yourself?" I thought about it for a second and I came back with the response, "Well, for one, GW is my first 2 initials of my name, guess I'll have to rename myself, MeDub."

Trust me, I'm never one to like controversy among fellow Houstonian bloggers. Besides, you all voted for me as Prez! LOL! Speaking of elects, where's our beloved Mayor of Bloggersville? Thibulous, are you back on vacation again? Haven't heard from him in a while.

45ACP, good call on the majority vote there for charcoal.
