Lawmakers that is...

One morning last week...

So there I was, minding my own business driving down CSH 60 on the shoulder of the road, blowing past one of those canned hybrids that apparently can’t wind up faster than 40 mph when I decided to pull over for a very understanding State Trooper. He informed me that creating your own lane to work is illegal. So I handed him my drivers license with a mug picture that looked like Brad Pitt going through withdraws in a drunk tank with an outdated address and an expired insurance card. To avoid more tickets, I just simply didn’t explain to him why I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt. I got away with only a $22.00 fine for not wrapping a seatbelt around me. Sure as hell, I drove away with no seatbelt. Pretty damn awesome to watch my tax dollars at work.
Now I’m not complaining, but if lawmakers are going to go out of their way to pass laws to protect us from ourselves, such as seatbelts, helmets, etc. then I have just one question for them.
WHY THE HELL DO YOU ALLOW A BATTERY OPERATED BOX OF P!SS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PANCAKED INTO A CONCRETE WALL BY MY ¾ TON CHEVY TRUCK ON THE ROADS. That can opener has no right being on the road. Yet this fishing weight is what you feel-good snobs are pushing Automakers to sell us. I supposed to start that roller-skate strap on, ya'll just pull the string outa the a$s end and hope to hell ya make it 2 miles before the string winds itself back into its own a$s. Hell, I’d be safer pushin’ my daughters’ scooter backwards with a seeing eye dog down the middle of I-25 around 5:00 on a Friday afternoon than peddling around in that barrel of crap ya’ll call a hybrid.

And I’m just getting’ started….but you get the point, so I’ll shut up for now.

guess I kind of went off there.......BUT, I'm over that now!

PFFT
What, are the liquor stores not open yet? There are plenty of cars that are smaller than the hybrid that run on gas. Not everyone can afford a fancy pick-up like yourself. Not to mention gas.
The shame is that trooper let an idiot like yourself off with just a seltbelt ticket.

Guess ya didn't see the humor or the point...I'll explain later.

"The shame is that trooper let an idiot like yourself off with just a seltbelt ticket".
That was "kind of" the point.

"Not everyone can afford a fancy pick-up like yourself".

That bag of pretzels (hybrid) costs a hell of lot more than my so called "fancy pick-up"...

I'm just saying that there are lots of small cars out there, hybrid or not. Some people cant afford a big rig, or need something thats better on ga$.
For someone to say that "THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PANCAKED INTO A CONCRETE WALL BY MY ¾ TON CHEVY TRUCK ON THE ROADS" makes you sound like an idiot. This only validates the those who want to enforce the law, because there are so many dangerous drivers who have no regard for other on the road.

I get your point, and I'm not very good at being sensitive about the way I word things. "SHOULD HAVE BEEN PANCAKED"="COULD HAVE BEEN PANCAKED".

My humor's a little warped.

My whole point is that hypocritical lawmakers are makin' us buckle up to collect $$$...when they're not a damn bit concerned about our safety.
Not to give the bastards any ideas, but we all know there are vehicles on the roads that are 30-40 years old with the original seatbelts. Would ya trust them old belts? Most racetracks make sure safety harness's are replaced every two years in oval track racing...Most of these cars are doing the same speed you are doing going down I-25 only in an oval...You just have MORE traffic and INEXPERIENCED IDIOTS tto deal with. One has to wonder about the life expectancy of the seatbelts in grandmas 1975 Ford LTD.
I guess I'm just seeing the hypocrocy of the whole thing.

Is there such a thing as an Inexperienced Idiot? lol

No, most idiots I've known have lots of experience at idiocy. LOTS.

That was frickin' hilarious, man. Not to mention accurate.

"I’d be safer pushin’ my daughters’ scooter backwards with a seeing eye dog". lmao

I read this AFTER I commented on the seat-belt blog- I see what you are saying! Yea, ignore the homemade explosive devise on the seat beside me, but GOSH FORBID I'm not wearing a seat belt- thanks, Occifer! LOL! You keep these threads interesting! Don't change for the sake of the painfully reasonable- where's the fun in that?

Ohhhh the humanity..........the humanity.......
Com'on garage guy lets go shoot those people driving hybrids. I'll bring the beer this time.
I know lets take my 78 Suburban with the 40" tires, but we'll wear the seat belt ok. Yeah thats right I said seatbelt I only have one so we're going to have to share it.

Ok Booggymann, but according to WKD-RDR I may have acted prejudice against other small cars out there. We must be fair and include them all.

GG
You seem like a nice hillbilly, really. I just wonder why you drive your big truck like crap, and blame little cars (hybrid or not)for your issues.
I have been around many road rage incedents, it just seems the guys in the big trucks dont have any balls after they get out of their big pickup.

Can someone get this guy (WKD-RDR) a sense of humor? Ya take all the fun out of it when it has to be explained.

lol...The only "issue" I may have is parking lots designed for small cars only. And WKD-RDR, I'll definetly agree with you on the big man syndrome with guys in big trucks.

Hey mon, me have big humor sense.
I hate when people talk like they rule the road in their big rig. I drive a truck, or I bike to work. My wife drives a small car (not a hybrid, but it could be confused as one I suppose... hence my lack of humor).
I want my family to be safe.

Think I'll get me a Hybrid someday...it would make a cute replacement to that ball float in the toilet tank....
