Vinegar works well for all types of cleaning and doesnt pollute!!! It also wont hurt you to breath it in like a lot of cleaners!!! Shoot Fantastic or 409 at a fly in the air and it will die in seconds!!! Just think how good its doing you breathing it in!!!!!!!!!!

I like to use baking soda for cleaning the bathroom and kitchen sink. Also, using a sponge with a "scrubby" side reduces the need for hard core cleansers on most surfaces.

We had serious asthma problems at one time and I was killing myself with toxic chemicals...but I am a CLEAN FREAK so I had to get my home cleaned well, but was compromising my health while doing it. Five years ago we started using a line of cleaning products called Ecosense...I get them online from a company that manufactures natural products for your home and for yourself. It was the best move I ever made. Not only do they clean better than anything I've ever used, but I can breathe great while doing it! And I pay a fraction of the cost of other store cleaners because it's so concentrated. Love it!!

Steveincanton...just read your comment about the fly and that is so true! One of my friends was telling me she was trying to kill ants she had with one of these Ecosense cleaners and they would not die!! Isn't that funny? Yet it's strong enough to clean my home the way I want it to!

I may sound radical, but I swear that it is killing us over time. Our skin is this big sponge and when your skin and lungs are soaking in carcinogens and chemicals, what do we expect will happen to us eventually?

Don't get me started!! LOL!

I also use the Ecosense line of cleaners. I absolutely love them and have noticed a change in my daughters asthma since I began using them.I am so happy I changed products and am not harming myself or my loved ones with the other more toxic cleaners.

A little off topic, but the skin is a sponge? I thought the skin was a BARRIER.

Vinager-- Germacidal agent
Baking Soda-- Scouring powder/Deodorizer
Gin--Cold weather window cleaner (seriously its great if washing the windows at or below freezing)
Castile Soap-- Stain remover.
Borax-- Mild detergent.
Muscle-- Goes along way on most cleaning projects...
I try to use Cellulose sponges or all natural sponges for most of my cleaning projects but will use old shirts from time to time.
Olive Oil-- Great wood polish... Add a twist of lemon for lemon scent.
citrus from lime or lemon work well for removing adhesives when combined with Hot water and a scraper.

TheShan...yes, your skin will absorb chemicals and other substances that it comes in contact with. For example, the patches that people wear to quit smoking. Or the birth control patches that women wear. If you are constantly exposing your skin to products with harsh and harmful chemicals, you better believe that it will find it's way in your system!!

Ecosense is amazing! From cleaning supplies to my laudry detergent they work wonders! Not only are they safe for you and the enviroment, but they are concentrated and last mucy longer than leading brands.
I have used the cleaning wipes for the bathroom, my car, to my kids hands!
Great stuff!

I have been looking all over for a green carpet cleaning company and finally read about one in a local newspaper. I have two small kids and a dog, and I don't want chemicals in my home. We called the Greener Cleaner and they cleaned our carpets and did a great job. Their rates were very reasonable. Their website is www.thegreenercleanercarpet.com. I would recommend them to anyone who is concerned with the harmful chemicals used in carpet cleaning.
