I knew more about Eliot Spitzer than I did about most politicians from other states.  As a consumer investigator, he set the national tone for slapping down businesses and people who take advantage of consumers.  You can be sure that if Eliot Spitzer did something the rest of the country's consumer advocates would follow.

As we've read in the past few days he apparently was supremely arrogant and not liked by many Democrats or Republicans.

We all know the details....

1. Sex with prositutes over a 10-year period maybe spending as much as $80,000

2. Possibly breaking the laws he put into place

3. Desire for unsafe sex

4. Putting himself in a position to be blackmailed

5. Violating public trust

It goes on and on.   The Feds will decide his fate now.   But sitting at home now, watching old friends flee from you, the soon-to-be former governor has to spend his days looking at the faces of his wife and three daughters.

THAT Mr. Spitzer is your Hell.

Though I am one to believe we all have our "secret sins", I too am disappointed in the Governor. Not because I knew him personally, but because I expect more from a man who has so much to lose. Looking to the face of his wife was disheartening. I can't imagine the humiliation his daughters have to deal with. But the thing that really disturbed me is that he insisted on not using a condom. That tells me that Mr. Spitzer didn't care about the his own well being nor that of his wife. Sleeping with a prostitute without a condom is equivalent to saying "where can I buy AIDS and other STDs. In this day and time, a man and woman's first priority should be their family. As wrong as it is, even if you are going to sleep around, at least "wrap it up". There are too many people having sex outside of their marriages without protecting their spouses. Wake up!

EXACTLY!

Hey, no one is without sin. We all have something we're embarrassed by, something we'd like to take back. But this isn't a case of momentary bad judgment, this is a 10-year mistake.

Why aren't the women of these men strong enough to walk away? I know the men are public figures but they just embarrassed you in public. How do they handle it?

I don't care about someones sex life, but when presidents, seneators and govenors solicit sex outside their marriage then it invites blackmail and corruption and that affects us. if we cannot find married politicians with moral values maybe we need to elect single leaders.

Hillary can't figure out that if she dumped Bill we would vote for her, most Americans feel that he would become a security risk to our country.

Trust me when tell you I felt the same way about Clinton when he messed up over and over. I really couldn’t understand why people always defended his behavior. I liked him as a President, but as a man he was not the type of man I would want to date, marry or even be friends with.

I can’t answer why wives don’t leave their husbands when this happens other than to believe that their love for their husband prevents them from making a hasty decision. When we hear the news we think, “what a bad person, she should leave him”. But, the wife has so much more invested into the relationship and probably doesn’t feel she can hear something bad one day and walk out the next because she has so much time (and children) invested. Mrs. Spitzer might leave and she might stay. Whatever she decides to do, she needs time to make a decision that she can live with.

And if I were Gov. Spitzer, I couldn't look my 3 daughters in the face and expect them to respect me. He has messed up and losing his Govenorship is the least of his problems.

If I was his wife, I would take my 3 daughters and all the assets availble and get the h.. out of there. I would change my last name and make sure he would never find us and hurt us again. Will his wife be so strong?

Dana, What has happened to the America I grew up in.I totally agree that Mr. Spitzer should be ashamed and he should never be allowed to hold public office again.
This is what really burns me. It's just like a drug dealer and a drug buyer. Yes the drug buyer is guilty of a crime but the drug dealer is also just as guilty. The last time I heard prostitution is illegal...why has the prostitute now a celebrity...set to make millions...is this what I want my daughter to learn......no! Both should be arrested and put in jail and treated just as I would be if I were to be caught hiring a prostitue.

SPITZER WILL PROBABLY COMMITT SUICIDE, I DON'T THINK HE WANTS TO GO TO PRISON AND THE SHAME AND GUILT HE HAS MAKES HIM WANT TO BURY HIS HEAD IN THE SAND. THAT PROSTITUTE MUST HAD A DAYUM GOODEN, HE WAS PAYING HER WELL....LOL
I'M JUST WONDERING WITH THESE DIFFERANT PUBLIC FIGURES, ARE THERE WIVES TAKING CARE OF THERE SEXUAL NEEDS, OR ARE THEY BEING NEGLECTED AND PUSHED INTO THE LOINS OF THESE OTHER WOMEN?

how do you push a man into the loins of a woman?
I thought man still had a free will. my wife had breast cancer in 2002 and has survived!
and due to her surgery she has not wanted sex since that time. that has not pushed me into another womans loins. this is my wife that I love and married for better or worse. she has put up me me all these years anyway.

some folks should never marry.

I'm not as serious as I look on TV. I love to laugh even if it's at my expense. I'm just not very PC. My friends would describe me as "black and white." Not a lot of gray. My co-workers call me Elaine from Seinfeld. I'm generally disheveled and have a messy car. I have really curly hair, but the station doesn't like it that way. I love my husband because he's funny. I also love red wine, rare steak, dark chocolate and strong coffee. I'm Type A, so of course, I wish I were smarter.
