Hotels' Dirty Secrets

Ever stayed at the Holiday Inn or Embassy Suites? Sure, a lot of us have. How about the Renaissance or Sheraton? Let's get fancy: ever stayed at The Ritz?

If you haven't lately, the I-Team has done it for you, and we've discovered something dirty - health code violations.

I know, some of you are saying, I saw that story a couple of years ago with the black light on the bedspread. No, that's not what we're talking about here. We find things that a public health expert calls gross, disturbing and disgusting.

People should also be aware that when they stay at hotels they should bleach their tub before using it. I stayed at a Micro Tel Inn and saw the cleaner clean my tub out with the same bush that she had just used to clean the toilet. Needless to say I hit the roof and raised major hell. For the remainder of my stay I refused to allow them to only empty my trash, vacum and change my sheets. I went to the store and purchased a gallon of bleach and bleached the tub and sink for over 4 hours.

This summer my family and I went to Disney World and we stayed at Star Island Resort. From the time we hit the room it was completely nasty we complained. They said sorry. We also went to the pool and my kids got this terrible rash. I had to take them to the doctor and get some meds for them. I was very angry about this situation.

A friend sent me the link for this story! Gross is an understatement. For years, I have traveled with my own cups and cleaning supplies when I stay in hotels. I clean everything. High end means nothing when it come to cleanliness. Friends say I'm over the top but a stay at a "nice" hotel in Denver left me with a skin rash, I will never forget! It's sad that hotel management would not agree to go on camera and defend thier hotels. Leads me to believe they are well aware of the practice and problem.

I'm not as serious as I look on TV. I love to laugh even if it's at my expense. I'm just not very PC. My friends would describe me as "black and white." Not a lot of gray. My co-workers call me Elaine from Seinfeld. I'm generally disheveled and have a messy car. I have really curly hair, but the station doesn't like it that way. I love my husband because he's funny. I also love red wine, rare steak, dark chocolate and strong coffee. I'm Type A, so of course, I wish I were smarter.
