Chip's Blog

I sat and watch Duh-val Patrick take the stage at the Democratic National Convention, and many thought/questions came to mind.  The one that was primary in my mind was: What's so special about Duh-val Patrick that earns him a prime time slot at the DNC?

I mean, let's be reasonable here for a second.  Has the first half of his first term in his first political office been a stellar success? Ummmmm...NOT!!!  He began by buying himself an expensive luxury car at our expense, followed it by furnishing his State House Office with expensive furniture and drapes, at our expense, then culminated his first few months of taxpayer supported "shop-aholism" with hiring a personal secretary for his wife on the taxpayer dole.  Took this little boy three times with his hand caught in the cookie jar to learn that Mommy and Daddy ain't giving out unlimited cookies....

Let's look at his legislative record....OOPS...there isn't one.

Let's look at his fiscal management...OOPS...he's spending again...How many employees have been added to the State payrole while he's been in office?  The largest percentage at Mass Highway?  In one of the Unions who bankrolled his campaign? HMMM....

OK, his platform of reduction of property taxes?  He ran based partly on that right?  Opps...my local property taxes went up 15% last year...OUCH!!!

So...I ask myself...What are Duh-val's qualification to be "hired" to speak, in prime time, at the DNC?  He has none.

What I'm going to say here is as politically incorrect as anything you've ever read here (at least on the blog side!!!).  And what I'm going to say is as factually accurate as anything that I've ever said.

Duh-val Patrick took the podium at the DNC last evening for one reason and one reason only:  He's black.  How sad is that folks?  You see, what you really saw was the cultural end product of a well intentioned social policy gone bad.  Affirmative Action.

In our cultural zeal to mend the historical wounds of slavery and racism, we have re-invented racism!!!  Ya see folks, when one of the major political parties, at its convention to pick a Presidential candidate, picks a failed Governor who is black to speak on prime time, they are sending the subtle message out that "This is the best it gets..."

Dammit...it isn't.  We have plenty of competent black, hispanic...end the litany of ethnic groups..folks who could have spoken last night.  The Democrats just can't find one in their ranks....

Affirmative Action has failed in the ranks of the people who created it....

No spanking coming from me, Chipmund. I didn't understand what Deval was doing there from the very beginning. I can understand him being there to support a friend, but I didn't know what he was being given a mike for. He hasn't accomplished much to be proud of so far, and I'm really disappointed in that.

Chip, one thing you left out...I think the fact that he and Obama are friends played a role in him getting there too. I really doubt that if he'd been an ardent Hillary supporter, he would have gotten the job.

June, Deval has done ONE thing for this state: He showed us all the crap that Obama was going to use in the primary season so that we could say "HELL NO!" this time. Unfortunately, no one else listened.

I'm still waiting for the successful qualified minority who will be speaking at the DNC...

The Republicans could put up Powell, Condy Rice, the senator from Oklahoma....but Republicans are cast as racists...

Nope...rich white guys speak at the DNC....

Chip, rich white guys who have been or have run for President, you mean.

But even still, Deval IS qualified to talk at the DNC...He's friends with the guy who just got nominated. Wonder if they had to pass over someone who's black because they're still supporting Hillary?

Chip, I wanna be honest with you. When I first started reading your blogs and posts they were relevant and covered a wide range of issues everyone could relate to. I agreed with some and disagreed with others but for the most part I've maintained my personal "Agree to Disagree" Policy when it comes to Political Correctness.

What I just read was the most "mixed-bag" Blog I've ever seen. Putting your personal opinon of Deval aside, I WILL say for fact it's people like you who are the reason MOST working-class minorities avoid politics like the plague; They know they will have to scratch and claw every step of the way to achieve what they want to achieve. VERY few can handle the pressure.

Deval and Obama make it look easy but TRUST ME, it's not. They deserve the positive attention they get because they're doing what most of Black America has only dreamed of.

Brendan,

Just for the record, I'VE scratched and clawed for everything I have, and I'm a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant. I happen to beleive that clawing for what you have is a GOOD thing, and believe "being handed stuff" is both insignificant, at best, and demeanking at worst.

Here's something else I think, and you may like this less, your quote "I WILL say for fact it's people like you who are the reason MOST working-class minorities avoid politics like the plague; " is pretty disrespectful of working class minorites, and says little about me.

If you take your own optic out of it, you'll see that what I've written is HUGELY RESPECTFUL of minorites, and pretty jaded about "white bread" America.

Here's what I'm sayinjg: Don't get it cause you're black, get it cause your better. Only then is black irrelevant.

Chip,

...And what will happen if Barack doesn't get elected is that there will be rioting the likes of which we haven't seen since the aftermath of the Rodney King verdict...because it just "couldn't be" legit, could it? It would just HAVE to be some kind of "conspiracy" by "the man," now wouldn't it?
But I'm sure we'll never know, because I'm sure that he will be elected...no matter what the polls say.
