Thanks to all of you who asked after me the last week and a half.  My father had some emergency surgery and I was at home with my family.  I think this was the first time in a few years that we have all been in the same place at the same time. We were only allowed to see him for a few minutes every 2 hours and it seemed that time was bending faster and slower all at the same time.  It took forever for 2 hours to pass but then before you knew it, the last visit of the day was already over.  I'll tell you this though, sitting in a waiting room for 12+ hours every day can make you very restless.  So, I made 3 trips to Jo-Ann and crocheted dishcloths, and hot pads, and even a giant yellow coffee mug to hold stuff on the kitchen counter.  I was handing them out all around.  Just needed to DO SOMETHING.  You know what I mean.  It was so difficult to leave but it is good to be back and busy.  I really appreciate all the e-mails and messages.

You guys are the best.

Hey guys, hope you had a great week last week.  I was cruising the California coast from San Francisco to L.A. and it was a fantastic drive! But I missed so much here like the piglet delays on I-75!  And I couldn't believe that I was in earthquake central but you guys felt the earth shake here!!!

Took a morning to visit the Monterey Aquarium.  What an incredible seaside location.  Oh, and the jellyfish display was mesmerizing.  Even so, you just can't beat the Georgia Aquarium, especially the coral reef.  Love that!

Anyway, good to be back.  I'll post some photos later this week.

Another week, another point for the "Idol King".  That would be, of course, Jeff Hill. He has correctly predicted the departure of 10 American Idol contestants so far this season. Mark and Suchita have each been right 7 times.  Me? 6.

Clearly, I have no talent for this.

So, I am reaching out to the American Idol continuum. If you always pick the AI wanna be that is not to be each week and just wish there was someone you could tell... someone who would understand and appreciate your insight... you can tell me.

Is this a pathetic attempt to get some help?  Yes.  I'm not even going to try and deny it.

Lets synchronize our watches. I wil check back here next Wednesday morning at 4am.

I've always believed that you shouldn't brag unless you can back it up.  And I have to say that Jeff Hill can absolutely back up his big ol'  Idol brag.  Each Wednesday morning we try to gauge the mood of AI voters from the night before.  Who will be voted off?

Jeff  "Idol King" Hill apparently taps into the voter vibe.  So what if he gets some insight from his home girls.  It all counts and right now Jeff Hill is winning our GDA AI Challenge.

But, Mr. Idol King, as Scarlett once said, tomorrow is another day

Meet you in the red chairs tomorrow morning.

Wow!  Melinda Doolittle is some kind of singer.  She stopped by Good Day this morning and I'll tell you, her voice just knocked me out.  She's even better than she was on Idol I think.  Her singing sounds more nuanced or maybe its just that this was the first time I'd heard her sing in person.  Can't wait to see what she's come up with for her cd.  She says it'll be out by the summer.  We invited her to come back then and I'm really hoping she takes us up on the offer. She seems very centered and thankful and genuine.

Oh, and you know what else impressed me?  She has a great handshake.  My dad taught me that, man or woman, a firm handshake makes a solid first impression.  .  If you missed her perfomance on this morning, check it out under the Good Day tab.

You just never know what kind of weather spring will bring to North Georgia.  Yesterday (Saturday) was sunny and warm and then today we wake up to a wind chill of 28 degrees!!!  Yikes!

My husband and I went for a walk in the Lake Lanier area on Saturday and I saw some folks strolling in shorts, tank tops and flip-flops.  Still a little too cool for me to go that far.  But with a few layers, I was sweater warm in the shade and short-sleeve cool in the sun.

When I lived up north, autumn was always my favorite season but here in the south, spring is just too beautiful for words.  So, instead of talking about it, I'm headed out of here to enjoy it!  Hope your Easter Sunday is joyous.

Congratulations to Team Parkview A!  Winners of the Metro Atlanta World Quest competition Saturday at Georgia State.

I was invited to emcee the awards ceremony and was amazed by the world knowledge these high school teams displayed.  Everything from current and past people and events to geography, to international law.  Pretty intimidating actually!

Parkview now goes on to the national World Quest competition in Washington, D.C.

You know, its amazing how much dust can settle on your bicycle in oh, say, 3 years.

The weather has been so fab the last few days that JB and I pulled out our bikes, aired up the tires and went for a ride on Saturday. Had such a nice ride that we did it all over again on Sunday.

Makes me kind of wonder what else fun might be buried in the deep, dusty, darkness of the garage... 'course looking might involve some "cleaning" so that exploration will have to wait for another day.

Spring is just in the distance and we are sooo ready for some fresh.  Some new and different.  Did you see our segment this morning on eyebrow shaping and coloring.  That's an easy update.  And with the new stencils available, its hard to mess up.  There are lots of new nail colors for spring too.  I love the new dark colors like navy and deep, deep mauve.  Yep, I said navy.  I wasn't sure about it but now I'm crazy about it.  Wait till they go on sale and try them on the cheap.  I'll tell you something else that makes a huge difference. Eyeglasses. Regular or sunglasses, changing frames can be transforming.  I'm off to pick up my new ones right now.  See ya!

Did a little mental happy dance yesterday.  I did something I hadn't done before.  Something I tried but hadn't been able to accomplish before.  Probably wouldn't mean a thing to you but it was one of those "whew!" moments for me.  I think I had reinforced the brain barrier each time I tried but didn't quite get it right.  Anyway, this time, I wasn't going to quit or just put aside the project because it was just too frustrating.  Took two weeks but I did it.  Don't you just love learning something new?

I ran out to the grocery story yesterday afternoon in that whipping wind.  It was so cold and so biting.  Kind of hurt just running from the car to the entrance.  Anyway, as I was checking out I noticed a guy behind me unloading an entire cart of valentine candy.  i couldn't help but ask "What's up with all the candy?  Big party?".  Turns out he was buying sweets for his co-workers.  All 2,500 of them.  Even with all he had, it probably came down to one piece per person.  But, I loved the idea of making sure everyone had something.  Reminded me of elementary school.  We weren't allowed to bring Valentine's in to class unless we had one for each person.

I couldn't buy something for each of you but I can wish you a Happy Valentine's Day

OK, tag!  You're it.  Pass it on.

I hope all you ladies had a chance to see our "10 pounds Thinner" story this morning.  You know, it really is amazing the difference the right size bra can make.  Until we were shooting this story, I had never been professionally fitted and to say I was shocked by the results would be an understatement.  The pro's put me in a bra 4 band sizes smaller and 4 cup sizes larger.  It not only fits, it feels great.  If you've never had it done, you might want to give it a shot.  I'm telling you, you'll see the difference immediately.

Also, there are some great new slimmers out there.  Stuff you can actually wear and still breathe!

Here's the downside though, when you see how good you look, you will have to go buy some new clothes.  Don't say I didn't warn you!

We have some web links with today's story under the Good Day tab.

I had such a good time Saturday night at the Gladiators game at the Gwinnett Arena.  I met so many nice people!

Jeff Hill and I took part in the dress the junior Gladiator contest.  My partner was Connor and she was fantastic!  The race to put on all the hockey gear was tight right to the finish and in the end it was judged a tie. Everyone's a winner!!

If you haven't been to a Gladiators game, check it out.  The arena is inimate to you get right up in the action... when they smash into the plexiglass, it's right in your face.  Fun, fun, fun!!

Check out my photos!

OK.  I made it.  One full year without taking up a new hobby.  Man am I glad that's over.  Because...  my mom just sent me an instruction booklet from the 1970's "Teach Yourself to Knit in Eleven Easy Lessons"!  Plus, along the way you are making an very, very 70's sweater.  How about that for inspiration?  My sister threw in some crazy vintage poncho patterns to seal the deal.  They know me too well!

Right off, let me say that I hope your New Year holiday was safe.  Next, I hope you had some fun!  We didn't go out but still had such a nice time together at home.  I'm glad I had the next day off because New Year's Eve fireworks are huge in my neighborhood and there is no way I could have slept through that!

January 1st is not only New Year's Day, its also my birthday.  I slept in (didn't get up till 7:30!), watched the Rose Bowl Parade, watched my husband bake my birthday cake, cooked up a traditional New Year's Day dinner, and just generally had a wonderful day!

Time now to get back to the task of downsizing.  You know what I mean!  My goal for this year is to lose 2 more dress sizes.  Somehow I don't think these last two are going to be as easy (relatively speaking) as losing the others were!  If your New Year resolutions include dropping a few pounds, do it right, be healthy, and don't give up (if you don't, I won't!).
