The Associated Press reported Wednesday that Chicago businessman Antoin "Tony" Rezko, 52, was convicted Wednesday of fraud, money laundering and aiding and abetting bribery in a plot to squeeze illegal payoffs out of firms hoping to do business with the state.

He had posted eight million dollars bond to remain at large during the trial, but he was taken into Federal Custody and swept off the Federal Prison as soon as the Verdict was read.

In the course of the trial testimony revealed details of all-night drug parties involving the government's star witness and allegations that Gov. Rod Blagojevich personally discussed a state job for a campaign contributor.

All through this process, there has been a focus on the relationship between Barack Obama and Rezko.  Obama has never been directly tied to the corruption and scandal unearthed by the investigations and allegations, but they have been closely associated from the inception of Obama's political career.  Rezko raised money for Obama's Illinois campaigns, as well as contributing to his current Presidential bid, which he had gleefully accepted, and was closely involved in Real Estate dealings with the Senator.

Of necessity and political expedience, if that be to his credit, Senator Obama has donated $150,000 of the monies known to be contributed by Rezko to charity.

One can just look at Senator Obama to lose all doubt that he is slick and smooth. In fact, he just may be as slick and smooth as Willie C and his defeated partner in crime. (my well considered opinion)

What is not opinion is some of the STUFF that has issued from the lips of Michelle Obama, the lovely lady who wants to be our First Lady. That woman is harsh and hard. She makes Hillary Clinton look like a Brownie Scout.

That leads me to another opinion: I believe Michelle's beliefs and desires are the real reason that the Obama Family joined and has maintained membership in Jeremiah Wright's Congregation all of these years. Only “wolves in sheep's clothing” could be comfortable there. Wright reads four words from the Bible, and screams ten words to belie what he just read. Barack and Michelle read from their Political Play Book that they want to promote Unity in America, but their lives scream of their desire for revenge on “rich” white folks and . . . Black Supremacy.

Hmm...I'd have to respectfully disagree with you Arky51. I've listened to many of Michelle Obama's speeches. And I can say that none of her words have been aggressive, harsh or hard.

Actually, she is almost a mirror image of her husband with respect to her attempt to remain unoffensive. She has, as far as I have heard, been nothing but supportive and consistant with the platform that Obama has held firm too.

But, I am curious to know why you believe Michelle Obama is the reason the Obama family joined and remained a member of thier church for as long as they did.

Also...rarely does any clergy do more than you described. Most pastors/preachers will read a passage from the bible (or just a few words from a passage), then explain what it is they believe that passage(s) to mean.

Church is little more than rhetorical analysis. I've heard two different clergy read the same passage and give completely different sermons on that same passage.

But I have to say that I don't think that anything Obama has said or done, "scream(s) of their desire for revenge on rich white folks and...Black Supremacy."

Foehammer, you are a great fisherman, and though I don't visit this site a lot, I have really appreciated your comments when I have.

Regarding Preachers in general these days, some were sent, but most just up and went. It's getting really hard to find one that teaches in the context of the passage. They aren't on a mission from God, they are on a mission for their pockets, just like the Politicians. The only Jesus I hear from Jeremiah is the sound on his lips when he repeats the Name.

It's no wonder so many folks are staying away and so many facilities are closing. God can't bless that action.

You've heard blacks ask if Obama is "black enough" to represent them. You've heard others say he is "half honkey and all donkey."
Well, that's just shallow put-down dissin.

The real Barack Obama is in his Writing, his Record, his Party Affiliation, and his friendships with radical corrupt people.
His writing defines him as a poor lost soul, desparate to define his place in black society.
His Voting record in the Senate defines him among the the most liberal of all members, socially and fiscally.
The Democrat Party has come to be the "Mommy" Party. You got a boo-boo? Run to Mommy and she will put a bandaid on it, even if it is not bleeding. You did something bad? Run to Mommy and she won't let Daddy spank you.
His "professor" friend has never said he was sorry for his domestic terrorism as a member of the "Weathermen," but rather expresses regret that he did not do more damage. And, this Tony Rezko? Well, he won't be seeing freedom for a long time.

Now, with all due respect, my brother, maybe you have been hearing it in the "hood" for so long that you don't notice it. But, for this blue-eyed soul man, who is very sympathetic to the injustices of the past, I gotta say, "WAKE UP!" These Political Weasels ain't just doing it to the black folks, they're doing it to all of us who aren't "connected."

You want to do away with Institutional Racism? Kick A$$ on Politicians who use "DIVIDE AND CONQUER" as the same tool it has always been, straighten out those seperatist blacks who are worse racists than any KKK member, and clean up the hood of the pimps and pushers who are holding individuals down worse than any Institution.

There are a lot more white folks who are really on your side, than the gangbangers want you to know.
(I think you know that.)

Thomas Sowell has it right in his book, "Black Rednecks and White Liberals." Bill Cosby has it right when he addresses the black folk about individual responsibility. Colin Powell is nobody's "Uncle Tom!"

And the Republican party that Bush and his cronies have turned the Republican party into has turned in a veil of underlying fascism. I'd rather run to mommy than Hitler.

Please don't mistake what I'm saying. The real Republican party used to be nothing of what it has become these last 8 years and if they want to survive, they need to return to their roots.

You are so undeniably correct, PBMom.

As a Veteran of Service in Vietnam, I sometimes find myself wishing my name was on the Wall, rather than seeing what both parties have done to the Land That I Love.

Did you know that more of my Buds committed Suicide after they came back from Nam, than were killed or MIA?

If McCain is the best we can do, then so be it.  But, it sure hurts.

Arky: Be proud of him. I really like the man. He makes me laugh quite often, especially when he goes on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He needs to distance himself from President Bush and he needs to stick to a cordial, nonsmear campaign (and I expect the same from Obama) and if he can do that, people will come around about that. I am a bit worried about his plans for Iraq because it is now hurting our economy so much; how much more money are we going to borrow from China to pay for the mess. Yes, he has the military experience and a honorable tour of duty.

What happened to the vets came back from Nam was just a disgraceful time of our history. I was just a little girl, but you just don't treat your armed forces that way; they were commanded to go; they went. The people to blame were the politicians. We should have stayed in Afghanistan and gotten Bin Laden and not moved onto Iraq to distract us from the fact that Bush couldn't get him as much as Clinton couldn't.

I remember when I went to visit the Memorial Wall that was travelling through Houston. I was sobbing. So many names, so many names I said to myself. Who was this one? What life might he have come home to? I touched every name on every wall (with my eyes because no hands were allowed) and I stayed until I read every single name. I sobbed the whole time.

Not to mention the suicides from the PTSD, having to endure the wrath of their fellow Americans, having no jobs to come home to, being scorned, disdained, depressed, drowning themselves in drugs and alcohol just so they could forget what

they saw over there. And now the kids from Iraq are coming home with PTSD, coming home and using bad judgment to do things and after surviving several tours of duty, come back here to get killed in a crash, or killed in other ways. And the Democrats wanted to pass that bill that ensured better benefits from the vets coming home, and it wasn't endorsed in by the right side. The report said that their would be a 16% decrease in the forces, and it did say that, but it also said that it also would bring in about 16% increase in sign ups for people wanting a way to afford college. That evens itself out. That is what I mean about McCain distancing himself from the president. The president's people only told him about the one figure and not the other. John McCain is a good friend to the autism community. The only time I don't like John McCain is when he is being used by the Bush administration.

Please understand, Mom, that I don't dislike McCain. As a matter of fact, I like him very much and have a lot of respect for him. I just see potential for "loose cannon syndrome" there. Five years is a long time to be imprisoned and tortured.

But, even with that concern, I cannot think of but one Democrat I could vote for without cotterizing my conscience, and Joe ain't running.

Right now, Obama has my vote. I'm an independent 44-year-old white woman who voted for Obama in the primary and my husband is a Republican 43-year-old white man who voted for Obama in the primary.

Two things worry me about McCain: His policies about Iraq and his age. 1200 pages of medical records in just a few years? I'm not very healthy and I don't have that many pages in my medical record. That worries me.
