Is Micheal Vick Getting A Raw Deal?

Considering the facts, if Michael Vick didn't have the celebritihood of being a professional football player, would he be getting the same kind of treatment that he's getting for dog fighting?

I think that Vick is getting a raw deal.  And most of the so-called justice really stems from people's emotions.  I mean, let's be very realistic and completely clear.  The justice system is out to ruin Michael Vick.  Not only his name sake, but also his character.  But at the end of the day, you've got to ask yourself this one question.  "Does the punishment fit the crime?"

O.K. Fighting dogs is a terrible gambling circuit.  And anyone who participates in it, should be treated as a criminal.  However, dogs are not people.  They are great companions and bring a lot of stability to people's lives.  But dogs are not human.  And no matter how mad society wants to be with and at Michael Vick, he is human, regardless of the decisions he has made.

Did he know better?  Well, that's a matter of opinion.  But Michael Vick is still a young man.  And to treat him with such hostility doesn't really fit the crimes that he committed.  I mean, let's not be hypocrites and point fingers, without taking a closer look at our own lives.

How many of you have ever ran over an animal, be it a dog or a cat, a squirrel or even a rabbit?  Did you stop to see what you ran over, or did you continue on your journey?  But I guess that's not the same as dog fighting.  However, it's still cruelty to animals.

And speaking of cruelty to animals, how many of you have ever allowed for your dogs to run loose, in the community, knowing full well that they are not on a lease?  And then have the nerve and audacity to say, "Don't worry!  My dog doesn't bite!"  Come on, now.  Let's be realistic.

Michael Vick is losing his entire fortune and he didn't even shoot anyone.  One of the reasons why he probably turned himself in and start serving his sentence is because he has no place else to go.  And with all of the fines and legal fees, mounted up against him, there's no way he's going to be able to pay all of his debts, unless he plays football again.  And there's no real indication if that will ever happen.

So, that just leaves the man ruined.  But for what?  Dog fighting?  Is it really that serious?  Has anyone else ever had to face that kind of justice?  Or is it just because this is "Michael Vick?"  Sounds like a raw deal to me.

No "DECENT" human being could ever do what conVICK and his buddies did to those poor dogs. Only a low life criminal could ever do such a barbaric thing. I have never let my dogs run lose, nor have I ever hit an animal w/my car. I protect animals, perhaps you don't. To you a dog is just a dog, to millions of us, they are part of our families... I hope the judge throws the book on him and he rots in jail... And from the outcome of the other two criminals sentence today, it looks like conVICK will have to serve a looonnngggg, prison term... I hope the judge has no mercy on this thug!

Watch out all you dog fighting criminals, this will happen to you also....

HE'S GETTING WHAT HE DESERVES...

CRISTY, WHAT'S YOUR TAKE ON THE FOXHUNTING SPORT? HOW CAN YU EVEN CALL IT A SPORT, IT CRUEL AND BARBARIC, ALL THOSE DOGS TEARING ONE FOX APART AND DISEMBOWLING HIM WHILE DRUNKS CHEER THEM ON WITH CUPS OF JACK DANIELS AND BEER.

I AM TOTALLY AGAINST ANY TYPE of HUNTING! I find it DISGUSTING. But unfortunately, it's legal. I respect animals as they are a breathing and living creature. I didn't write anywhere on my comment that I approve hunting. Also, what does hunting have to do with the barbaric murder of dogs by a so called "human being"... what conVICK did is much worst then those "so called drunks" watching the sport. Those "so called drunks" are not killing the foxes themselves... They are not ELECTROCUTING, BEATING, SLAMMING ON THE GROUND OR DROWNING THEM. That's what conVICK did to those poor dogs, just because they didn't perform to his standards...

Vick had to come back to earth sometime, anybody with a brain knew he was guilty as soon as the dogfightin thing came out. If he doesnt get a couple of years in jail ill be surprised. Foxhunting=very barbaric and of course the hunters are responsible for the foxes killing but we dont have a bunch of rabid fox owners screaming about it. BOTH OF THESE "SPORTS" ARE ABOUT SEEING AN ANIMAL DIE & ENJOYING IT!!

This is not a black and white thing, however this is just a bunch of mess. Vick is not the only person in the world who has made a mistake. Although the way it seems people are trying to make it out that way. I wish society would get this upset when a innocent child is killed while sitting in front of her computer, or how about when a little boy is kidnapped sexually assaulted and then killed. Of course no one gets that upset because then that would mean that we would be living in a society of level headed people.

Society does get this upset when children are killed. You obviously choose not to look or read about it.

I really do not get you Vick supporters. First you refused to believe your idol was guilty. Then he admitted it and you still support him. Do you know what he did? Maybe you should watch a video showing what happens. Do you even think beyond wanting to go to Arizona in February 2008?

The only reason you are supporting Vick is because of who he is. Where is your outrage for the others arrested and convicted for this? Protest rally anyone? Did not think so.

I laugh when people call this "a mistake". A mistake is driving 75 in a 65 mph zone. A mistake is forgetting to mail your mortgage payment on time. The repeated torture and execution of dogs for sport is not a mistake. He made the concious decision to do this and keep on doing it. He made the concious decision to try and lie about it. The only mistake here is all of you who support this.

The only person to blame here is (pause for dramatic effect) Michael Vick. He knew what he was doing. He chose to do this. Now that he is caught he needs to pay. That simple. And if this were anyone but Michael Vick none of you would even be commenting. You are all sad. What values are you teaching your children? That it is ok to do anything you want as long as you are a football player so that way you can get idiotic fans who want a superbowl victory so bad that they will ignore anything you do or say. Way to go! I applaud your hypocrisy.
