I like to think of myself as being a straight forward and level headed kind of guy.  And I tend to add things up and try to make some clear sense out of it.  However, I can't, for the life of me, figure out this war in Iraq.

This campaign started in 2002, right?  Well, some people might say 2001.  But let's focus on the real war and not necessarily on 9/11.  Because 9/11 was a terrorist attack on the U.S.  And it has not been proven that Iraq had anything to do with it.  So, I can't really factor that in.

What I can factor, however, is the growing price tag that the U.S. is spending on an unjust war.  How much is it, now?

Since 2002, how much has the U.S. spent on the war in Iraq?  In that same regard, what has the U.S. accomplished or have shown or can give an account for all of the activities and time spent in Iraq?

With the U.S. presents in Iraq, are we meddlers of peace or inventors of destruction?  How can we stablized a war torn country, a war mind you, that the U.S. started, when the infrastructure of our own country is fractured and weaken?

It doesn't add up, even for history.  This war was a grave mistake.  And I think that the Bush Administration has betrayed the trust and courage of this country.  And has placed our future at a point of no return.  This should be the grounds for impeachment.

Here is a real woman who should run for President!

Written by a housewife from New Jersey and sounds like it! This is one

ticked off lady.

"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not

started by Islamic people who brought it to our shore on

September 11, 2001?

Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally

murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from

our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible,
burning

or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when

an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?...Well, I
don't.

I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for

incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start

caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in

Saudi Arabia

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking
off

Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed
throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq and

Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their

own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of

nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide

bombs.

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First

Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead
of

the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up
an

Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have
been

humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured:
I

don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not

to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank:

I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat,
and

fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining

that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in

your heart of hearts: I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran"
and

other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and, you guessed it, I
don't

care !!

And may I add:

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a

One last thought for the day:

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American

sentiment and negativity, we should remember England's Prime Minister

Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his

Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said: "A

simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want

And how many want out."

by he way if you do your research you will see that WE DID NOT START THIS it was started a long time ago when Bush Sr. and then Clinton, they both did nothing about it. I know this war is not very popular but it is about time someone is doing something about it. We have not been attacked since 9\11, if we pull out it will happen again. I want this war over just as you, but not til its over. It doesnt matter if you agree how it started, it did now we should support our troups and our country in order to finish it then we can bring them all home. If we leave we look weak to them so they will try more on us cause they know we wont do anything about it.

You know, it is often said that if someone opposes the war in Iraq, they are not American. But what has been so blatantly forgotten, is the fact that this country, the U.S. of A, started with a protest.

It is not un-American to oppose a war, especially when that war has not properly been defined. In fact, it is very patriotic and even just, to challenge the authority of those who have chosen to put innocent lives in harm's way.

We can not continue to live in a state of paranoia, while fighting a war that was built on a lie or what some would call misinformation. Because if the so-called intelligence gathering was flawed and the evidence was not credible, then how do we continue to support a cause, when there is no such a cause?

President George W. Bush continues to make an argument that the United States isn't safe, until Al-Qaeda is caught. Now, if that isn't a wild goose chase, I don't know what is. And how people are so gullible in believing half, if not all, of the crap that comes out of Washington D.C. is beyond me. Because if we're really going after the terrorist group, known as Al-Qaeda, then why are we tearing up the country of Iraq?

Saddam Hussein was not a threat to the U.S., no more than Castro. There is and never was any proof of any kind of an alliance with Saddam and Osama Bin Laden. So, where's the threat. Where's the credible evidence?

There is none. It's all a made up story to divide the country of Iraq into a three part sovereign state, so that the U.S. can finally move military bases into Iraq; for the purpose of keeping

There is none. It's all a made up story to divide the country of Iraq into a three part sovereign state, so that the U.S. can finally move military bases into Iraq; for the purpose of keeping a close grip on China and Russia. It was never about oil. It's about establishing new territory.

And that's my political opinion. Though not based on any facts, but neither is this war. So, I feel just, in saying that this government is pulling wool over all of our faces. Because if they can "PURPOSELY" split up Iraq...and the keywords here are "split up"; then the U.S. can establish a greater international influence on the rest of the Middle East, only because Iraq has now become an ally to the U.S. At least, that is suppose to be the plan.

Other than that, I don't see no other real reason to disrupt that country and spend billions of dollars on a war, looking for supposedly boogey men. If we are the ones who started this war, then why has it taken the U.S. almost eight years and counting to find a conclusion to the growing hostilities and civil strife that we caused?

Oh, and as for doing some research, why don't you go back and research the Iran Contra affair. Study how the U.S. was so involved with Iraq, when that country was going to war with Russia. Now, put all of the pieces together.

The only reason why there is a lot of hatred towards the U.S. is because of this country's hypocrisy and the strong belief in capitalism. It's almost as if no one can dare say something bad about the United States. This country is perfect and sound. But what you fail to realize is that the idea of "perfection" is subjective.

Now, don't get me wrong. I think the U.S. is one of the most powerful countries on earth. And a lot of the world depends on the U.S., as a valuable resource. But there again, that's where the hypocrisy comes in.

Did you know that just about everything you have or will own, except for an actual US Dollar, is made in another country? That would mean that just getting up everyday is an international affair.

How do you seat in a chair, that was made from one country, at a computer that was made in another, while wearing clothes that was made in another; but all of the money you've spent is printed and made, right here, in the good ole U.S. of A? Crazy, isn't it? But you've still got to love this country. It is a good country. Yet, there are a lot of problems to hammer out.

The main one now, is this unjust war in Iraq.

George W. Bush has made some Americans think that this country will come under attack, if we leave Iraq. But common sense says or questions, "how do you fight an enemy that you can't see?"

What does Al-Qaeda look like? And what do they have to do with Iraq?

See, when that question can be answered, the real focus of this war can be established. Because if we don't know what Al-Qaeda looks like and if we can't find them over there, then maybe they are already here, within the U.S. Just a thought.

This war started with misinformation and faulty intelligence. And that is exactly how the Bush Administration is handling this war. Very faulty and constantly misinformed.

What is the real focus of the war in Iraq? Is it Russia or China or both? Maybe it's the oil. But it's definitely not the boogey man, better known as, Osama Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein.

How about, we concentrate on OUR country. Maybe other countries wouldn't hate us so much if we stopped meddling in everyone else business. I was all for taking down Saddam, but enough is enough already. Why don't we concentrate on educating our children, im not sure if you know, but GA is one of the worst states in the country for education. Healthcare? Putting more money into training police officers, so we don't have corrupt, power hungry cops running the streets. There are so many things that we need to concentrate on besides killing our troops and innocent civilians.

Bush is like a stubborn little child, he has said many times that he DOESNT CARE that EVERYONE is against him, HE wants to go to war, and HE is president, so that's the end of it. I saw an interview one time, with a member of congress who quit soon after Bush was elected, his name escapes me. But he was saying how Bush is basically trying to prove his father wrong. It's like a big competition. Bush Sr. failed in Iraq, so now Jr. is trying to show Daddy that he can do better.

What bothers me the most is that many us are sitting here in the confort of our homes and criticize the war. Then you have the wonderful heroes "our troops" fighting for us. Yes, they are protecting all of US, and they don't complain about the war.... they are proud at what their accomplishing. My nephew is currently in Iraq, he's a Green Beret and a very proud one and we're extremely proud of him. He is very proud to serve his Country and supports the war along with the majority of the troops. So instead of all the bashing the war, we as citizens of this wonderful nation, should stand up and support our country and our troops. And yes, our troops feel very proud that we have not been attacked since 9-11... They are protecting your family and mine from another attack!

Cristy, I support the troop, because they are innocent. But don't talk crap to me about this war.

You can't even tell me why we even went to war in Iraq. And don't start with some 9/11 excuse. Because that has never been proven and it's been almost eight years and counting. We STILL don't know the real reason behind this war. And that's why I say that the troops are innocent.

This war isn't about them. It's a propaganda, orchestrated by the hypocrisy of this country's presidency. And if anyone can't or don't want to understand that is really out of touch with reality.

Yes, we support our troops. But that doesn't mean that we have to be in favor of an unjust war. All of this bullcrap about this country being not safe is a load of garbage.

Do you know how capable and skilled our military forces are? We're not even fighting this war full force. Which I don't even understand. Because if that was the case, this war would have been over a long time ago. Mission Accomplished!

It's an oxymoron to say you support the troops, but are against the war. You don't even know all the progress that has been made in Iraq thanks to our COURAGEOUS man and women and that includes my NEPHEW... so the day, you or any of your family members sacrifice their life for "AMERICANS", then you have the right to speak.. Cristy, I have two brother who have served in the Military. One of them was in the Gulf War. So, when I say that you're talking crap, "YOU'RE TALKING CRAP".

George W. Bush is a war criminal. And you would be stupid to not believe that. Because if you honestly think that this country is at war with Iraq, trying to make this country safe or more safe, then you're the one that needs to go back to school and study your history.

It's people, like me, who have the balls to call it like it is, that makes this country so great. I don't have to be a puppet on a string and do or believe what ever is told to me. I know how to reason facts from fiction. And if you're offended because I have a brain and know how to use it, then that's on you.

You can go ahead and believe that this country is under some mysterious threat, that we have the right to at will our military anywhere in the world, then you're about as gullible as gullible can get. You can't even reason with me about politics, when you don't even know that much about it. Just whatever they hands you. Yeah, they like people like you. Easy to govern.

Yet, as for people like me, we make the deciding vote. Because we're not so soft hearted and gullible to believe everything that is told to us. Some of us will get into the crust of the facts and know exactly what you're trying to feed them. But you? You believe in boogey men? Only because the government told you to. How's that for moronic?

what most Americans don't SEEM know is that this war on has been on going for quite some time now. this didn't just happen with the towers on 9/11,we have been on the front line for close to 25 years now. also the plan to INVADE the middle east has been in place since the 70's when our government knew that it would be a hot spot look at the placement from a military point isn't Iraq right in the middle of the of all our problem countries? does divide and conquer mean anything to you? wake up America we are in a war that will not end anytime soon and if we give in to these people
I hate to think about the future it would bring to my little girl this is something you can't run and hide from we must face it united no matter what the cost. I know how these people think I've seen it first hand and are going to see it again real soon and I go forward proudly

Hi everybody, this is a great subject. I served for 20 faithful years in the U.S. military. Anybody who had a family member to serve in the military or currently serving we know that they have made a great sacrifices’ in the name of freedom.
Remember, the American soldier, sailor and airman does not have a voice. Nor can they express an opinion at least not publicly.
So, please do not shut out someone else’s opinion because it doesn’t quite fit into your ideal.
What I’m saying to you is this, do you research. I’m challenging you to go and see why some many are willing to die to get into the U.S and also why so many more hate the U.S. trust me it more to it than they hate our way of life. It’s much more substance than that.
The answer will surprise some, confirm what others have said but will shock all. When 9/11 happen I couldn’t believe it. The U.S. economy was the best it had been in over 60 years. It was the 1st time since Pres. Kennedy was in office that the U.S. was a country that operated in the black and not in the red.
Now, we’re are now over 8 trillion dollars in the red and growing by the minute. Our children and grand children will be paying for this mess. By the way if you didn’t know China owns more than 50% of the U.S. right now. It’s the 2nd time in American history that we owe money to a foreign country.
If China ever decided to call in all the money the U.S. owes them at this time the economy would tank.
It’s not a joke and I’m not trying to be funny; as military members we follow orders without asking why because that’s what the military does.

But you as a nation must ask the hard questions.
Here’s some for you to start with:
1. Why did we leave Afghanistan before we found Bin Laden and ensure that its’ government was on a solid foundation and not on a shaky foundation?
2. Where are the Weapons of Mass Destruction?
3. How do you contain an enemy with only 160,000 troupes to cover an area the size of New York State?
4. How many terrorist did we create by bombing the wrong houses and wiping out entire families by accident?
We the US of A have too much power to go around attacking someone just to be proven wrong. Believe it or not we do need the rest of the world with us. I’ve lost 12 of my friends to this…. Mess if this administration would have let the military handle this war with its’ original generals who were in charge, it would be much different than it has turned out.
But they were removed when they told the administration we didn’t have enough troops for a 2 front war. (That’s a war when you have one force fighting in two different places at the same time.)
But nobody listens to the military until it’s too late. If you don’t believe me ask a Vet from Vietnam.
Last but not least this is still the greatest nation on earth with all of its faults.

Johnny D, I've done a great service to this country. I pay taxes. Therefore, I'm afforded the right to speak my piece and protest the B.S. that is constantly dressed up and performed, all in the great name of these United States.

You see, people tend to think that if you protest the war in Iraq, that you're not supporting the troops. That's a whole lot of crap, creamed up on top of crap.

And you're absolutely right. This war has been going on for well over twenty-five years. And why is that? Because the U.S. is well known for meddling into international affairs, but leaving the domestic issues to second chance. Who are we to run the world? Is this the way of the "New World Order"? Because not even you can honestly say why the U.S. purposely went to war in Iraq and how that decision benefits the U.S., other than for profit.

That's right, Johnny D, profit. But for who or whom? You "ain't" nor I nor any of the troops serving in the war are EVER going to reap any of the benefits of this war. WE will pay for it with our lives. WE will pay for it with our children's future. And WE will profit nothing but more war.

Since this particular war, or should I say campaign, began Johnny D, how has it benefited you? Do you honestly *ahem* "feel more safe"? Are you more safe now, then you were before 9/11? I mean, what's the difference in your peace? Now check your pockets.

Where or who do you think is going to fund the billions more dollars, to support an ongoing war, where our troops "DON'T EVEN HAVE" the necessary protective gear to help them fight? But I bet you top dollar, Johnny D, the members of Blackwater got and get every thing they need. Haven't heard too many of them getting killed in battle, have you?

You see, Johnny D, people are sensitive to the war because of the men and women who are fighting in it. And I understand that. But that doesn't mean that I have to support the cause, in order to assure myself of their safety and sacrifice.

I don't want for their lives to be in vain. And that what you don't understand. Because again, you can't give me a CLEAR AND REASONABLE arguement of why the U.S. went to war with Iraq.

Was Saddam Hussein really that much of a threat to the U.S.? Where's the evidence that will support those claims?

I know, it was bad intelligence, right? No, it was purposeful will. Because as you have stated, this war has been going on for a long time. There was even a time when the U.S. backed Iraq and trained their soliders, when that country was at war with Iran. But hold up. Wait a minute.

Isn't Iran more of a threat, to the U.S., than Iraq? Saddam had supposedly had weapons of mass destruction. That we claim and thought. But it wind up turing up grass. Meanwhile, we know that Iran has nuclear capabilities and is able to develop a warhead. But I guess that's the next chapter for war.

Are you still feeling safe, Johnny D?

Fred, the U.S. is a great nation of opportunities. But some don't want to see that bad. And they refuse to acknowledge the many errors our government constantly gets us in.

The bill for this war will go into the decades. Not to mention the rebuilding of our bridges, across the country. The rebuilding of the levees. The cost of healthcare and the many drugs that has purposely poisoned our society. When will people wake up and see the evil for what it is?

Because of the greed of those who are in power, the rest of us have to suffer, while they get rich and die happy. Now, that is just plain evil.

4dollars15cents, I must agree with you on that. It's not time for America to wake up and hold our eleceted officals accountable.
I've been in shock and awe since the tried to impeach Pres. Clinton for having sex in the oval office.
I dare anyone to how many of our brave men and women died because of his affair.
Now, that our so-called congress. The men and women whom we as a nation elected to represent what's importat to us.
FAILED us we needed somebody who wouldn't be bullied and led down a path of foolishness.
Now these elected officials says "We went with the information we were given. But please elect me back for 4 more and I promise to get it rigth this time."
Yes ladies and gentlemen the U.S.Congress could have put a stop to all this madness before it started.
War on Terrorism, great catch phrase. Now which sovereign government are going to go after now?
We can guess at it all day. Here lies the problem with that if a soldier sailor or airman does exactly what they are told to do that should mean that they were just following orders.
When their actions were wrong from the start. They are the fall guys. The officers in charge, they might get something placed in their record that might stop their career dead in its' tracks.
But it's the ones who were just following orders have the most to lose.
It's not just their money for their families it's also their freedom or their lives. Yes WE MUST HOLD THOSE WHO RUN THIS COUNTRY ACCOUNTABLE!!!!!!

Hear, hear. What people fail to think about is that war is a government program. Like most government programs, it is proposed by, supported, lobbied, and campaigned for by, and eventually passed and implemented for the benefit of, some special interest group or group.
The war in Iraq benefits a huge coalition of special interests. From Big Oil, to weapons and military equipment manufacturers, to Halliburton to Blackwater USA, the special interests want the war continued because they are raking in billions on this war. They get to count their $$$ while our brave soldiers die for their bank accounts, and its a travesty that the people haven't figured this out.
If you do not believe what I'm saying, look at who these companies have made political donations to. Look at how even the Democratic candidates (Clinton & Obama) have changed their tune on Iraq - after receiving big contributions from the Oil Companies' PACs, among others.
So, Soldiers are sworn to follow orders unless they are patently and apparently illegal, so the soldiers can only stop the madness with a military coup, which no one would support. It is up to the People to take this country back. Vote for Ron Paul in the Republican Primary on February 5th. Why? See www.ronpaul2008.com for starters.
